DVD-drive not reading all disks

Had it since 10/11/2010 so not that old really, its the samsung one, nothing to special either way it has suddenly stopped reading disks correctly, for instance, my l4d2 disk it will not read yet my laptop can read it, and so can my mums, my mates pc aswell as my old spare ide drive...so im putting it to a fault with the dvd drive.

Steps i've taken so far to try and resolve the issue,

1. Changed to a brand new Sata cable.

2. Tried in a different PC. (friends rig)

3. Tried disk in other computers.

4. Used my spare old DVD drive in my rig, Disk is read perfectly.

So as i've ran through all these test would this confirm my DVD drive has failed on me? I'm pretty sure it's still in the period for RMA however from reading anouther thread about "damage to a board" im wondering, seems as its a dvd drive, it has in fact got scuff marks from being slid into my pc, these wont count agasint it and cause you to attempt to reject it will they?

Nope, i will go do that now. Didn't even think of trying that XD

Well it didn't work it managed to try spinning the disk up, then spun the disk for a good 5 seconds at a high speed, then fail and spat the disk out saying "please in a disk" (along them lines)

So Def not that

Your best option is raise an RMA request so we can replace this under warranty for you.

No fault found, of course how did i not exspect this from scan? seems to be a common problem!

Well send it back, and take note i WILL be proving that this drive has a fault, i will record it NOT reading my disk, then put the disk into my second drive and maybe then id like to see you say no fault found, you have ticked me off. ALOT

And i'm in no way about to let you walk over me, i know my rights, i can get the proof and i will be damned if your going to keep me as a customer.

It's true what they say, as long as you dont need to RMA anything scan are great otherwise useless.

I had the same problem on a Samsung, wouldn't read in the samsung but fine in other drives, couldnt be bothered in sending it back so got a new one, different make, but yeah I have seen it in the Samsung drives.

firmware update? could that help? im not sure...but I remember my bro had a drive that wouldn't reads certain discs, after a driver / firmware update it was ok.

I had the latest firmware on mine, not sure what razer had.

everything was tried with this drive, in a different pc, firm ware shouldnt need updating.....its a few months old! and i doubt it was updated before "tests" were made by scan, come on scan i want to know what "test" were made, this is a specific case with this dvd drive and i assume you threw in a few disks and said it worked!
