    Asus p8z68-v gen3

Hi, please help. I've lost a whole weekend and its currently 01:46 and will be very tired for work tomorrow.

I've taken delivery of a asus motherboard. There seems to be a problem on there. I can hear feint buzzing from my speakers when im doing anything, even simple things like resizing a window. Scrolling the mouse also brings this up.

Its more apparent when im playing a game like battlefield 3 as it gets louder.

At first i thought it was my front audio jack on my lian li case, so i tried the back. Same thing happens. So i thought maybe interference from my gpu, so i swapped my ati 6970 back to my 8800gt. Again same thing. Last resort i tried swapping my psu, enermax 710 or something like that to my corsair hx850. Again same thing. I have tried numerous power cables, dvi leads, power sockets to eliminate everything.

I've also tried it with my old msi p35 neo motherboard. It does not happen on that.

    Please advise.

Forgot to add, i have tried with the realtek drivers supplied on disc and also with the latest drivers from their site.

I have also found that if i select HD audio front panel in the realtek options. Then it turns off the sound from the front jack and you can hear the buzzzing/hissing sound.

    Hi,

Further to this mornings conversation if you would like to order another board from us so that you can avoid having any down time we will then collect/test and refund subject to a fault being found with the original board.

    Regards

Try muting the microphone if you are not using it and any other inputs like that if they are not in use.

I've had a similar noise on various setups over the years and this is how I fixed it straight away

Thanks for the responses guys, i think i may have found the cause. Will have to test again tomorrow way too tired now.

The motherboard is most likely not faulty. Maybe the bottom plate of the silver arrow is touching my tray and causing it to short.

put black tape all over the bottom of the motherboard tray. I still seem to get it.

The cpu cooler will be earthed, and therefore won't cause a short circuit, and so is unlikely to cause this noise.

I'd suspect a damaged trace or capacitor to do with the audio, or even possibly the audio chip itself. Best thing to do is RMA it considering you seem to have covered every other possibility. I've not got this problem on my board fortunatly.

    Re: Asus p8z68-v gen3

Still get that annoying buzzing sound from headphones. After a few hours use, i get lines accross my screen. I have checked wether this does it to my 6970 and also my brothers 6950.

Lovely lady i spoke to this morning gave me your email address to forward pictures and video. Total of 90mb's but split and zipped up. Will be emailing you right now.

    Thanks,
    Minh

    Re: Asus p8z68-v gen3

Get the same problem with my P8z-68-v gen3, spent hours faffing with sound options cant make it go away.
Even hovering over desktop icons makes a noise. starting to think its a design fault with the realtek chip. belive this is software releated by the way it is not apperent untill the sound drivers are loaded.

going to mess with moving fans arround in a momment.

Yeah I would get it looked at, may try getting a sound card and disabling on on-board.

I would say that too, I've got this P8Z68 pro gen3 M/b too, and I am using a Asus Xonar DX2 audio card, Ive had my audio card for a year now, and I bought it because I was constantly having problems with the onboard Realtek audio thats on almost all motherboards.
