Thumbs up Re: Asus P8Z68-V pro DRAM red light

    Hi all,

Returned to Scan on Monday morning with my new build.

Told Scott on returns of the probs i was having he looked at it and to cut a long story short,
It was checked and sorted within a short time. It was an error on my part.

Well pleased with the service i had there.

    Thanks All

Re: Asus P8Z68-V pro DRAM red light

Can you please share the solution, mally.b? I'm having a similar issue with my new system (ASUS P8Z68-V Pro motherboard).

Mine powers up, the DRAM_LED lights continuously, the system resets only once after about 10 seconds and the DRAM_LED is still on. No video is displayed on the monitor and my mouse/keyboard do not light up. I've tried the various RAM combinations and used the MemOK! switch to auto-tune the memory, but the DRAM_LED stays on continuously in all cases. I also tried booting with just one stick of RAM, CPU/heat sink, onboard video, and PSU in and out of the case, but there's no change. I reseated the CPU and checked for bent pins and everything looked okay, so I exchanged the original motherboard for another P8Z68-V Pro and it's still happening. Maybe it's my RAM? Although I have tried another pair (not on QVL) to no avail.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Mobo: ASUS P8Z68-V Pro
    CPU: Intel i5 Core 2500K
    RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 (2x4GB); also tried 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1866 (2x4GB) though it's not on the mobo QVL
    GPU: EVGA GTX 570 HD
    PSU: Corsair TX850M 850W
    Case: Corsair 600TM
    CPU Cooler: Corsair CAFA70

Re: Asus P8Z68-V pro DRAM red light

    Hi,

Please ensure that if you are using only 2 sticks of RAM that they are installed into the light blue slots. These are slots 2/4 (counting away from the CPU socket) also ensure that you have both the 24pin & 8pin 12v CPU connector plugged into your board.

If your memory is not on the QVL list you could try the "memOK" function of your motherboard that normally allows you to get to a POST screen so that you can manually set-up your memory in the BIOS.

    Regards

Re: Asus P8Z68-V pro DRAM red light

    Hi,

The RAM is installed in the blue slots and both power cords are correctly plugged into the motherboard. I have tried both QVL (Corsair Vengeance) and non-QVL (G.Skill Ripjaws) memory with the MemOK function and neither shows the post screen. The DRAM_LED remains lit, unfortunately.

    Thanks for your reply.

Re: Asus P8Z68-V pro DRAM red light

    tinma,

I finally got mine to post. I made a rookie mistake as this is the first time I've built a custom machine. My problem was not fully pressing the RAM sticks into the DIMM slots. I didn't realize how much force was required--I didn't want to break anything and I felt like I was pressing quite hard already. While inspecting the motherboard I noticed that the opposite ends of my RAM were slightly higher than the clipped-in side, so I pushed a bit harder on that end and it sunk into place.
