I have returned this item as faulty, no refund has been given!

I have returned this Seasonic x1050 PSU as it made too much fan noise, others have claimed this behavior is the result of a faulty fan controller or temp sensor which i am inclined to believe as these PSU's have a reputation for silence. The fan is supposed to idle on low loads, however my PSU ramped up every few minutes with 90w load on it (my computer idle, power was measured at the wall, room temp was 17*C). I returned this and am told "no fault found" Well that is utter BS! I used the PSU for longer than a week and can attest to the noise it makes, your technician likely plugged it in, found the system powered up and the PSU fan was off but did not use it for an extended period like i did.

I have told Scan this, however they have stopped communicating with me unfortunately. Frankly i am rather displeased with the treatment i have received so far, this whole experience is leaving a very sour taste.

    maxp779,

I am sorry that we have not replied to your emails sooner, I can see that the engineer did more than a simple power up test with the power supply:

Powered my test system using a GTX570, set the fan control to Hybrid and the fan only starts spinning under full load. When idle in windows and even when running Heaven benchmark, ATITool & Prime95 the fan will not kick in, I had to power extra hard drives to give the PSU enough load for the fan to start and then it was only spinning slowly / silent.

An email was sent to you this morning.

    Kind regards,
