EVGA NVIDIA 630 Fan

Hi guys. I bought an EVGA NVIDIA GT 630 card from you yesterday for a media/casual gaming PC.

The problem is that the fan is really quite loud. I tried EVGA Precision X and MSI Afterburner tools, and it seems the fan cannot be reduced below 65%, even though the GPU is under 30C and idle. As a result the system at idle with the card is much louder than the entire PC at full load without it.

Is there anything I can do about this - I checked EVGA's website and there aren't any downloads other than drivers.

Just to see if there is anything they are aware of that we are not, or if it is like this by design.

Thanks for the reply. I contacted EVGA and the tech guy said they'd want to test the card at their offices in Germany. I said all I needed to do was reduce the fan speed, but he still said their procedure is to test it.

Obviously I don't want to get a repair on this, just to reduce the fan speed. I did a Google search and it seems a couple of people have mentioned the 65% minimum, so it looks like it's by design.

If there isn't anything I can do I guess I'll have to return it. I was hoping there'd be a simple BIOS flash or something.

I've popped it in the post today. Just to let you know, I put the protective film back on the card to protect it - it covers the vents, and I didn't want you to think I'd used it with it still on
