Gfx card does not work in 2 PCs, tested fine in RMA
Hello all,
I ordered an XFX R9 270 from Scan. After inserting the card in the PC, connecting the 6 pin power connector and powering on, all the fans run but there is no signal on the monitor and no beep is made to signify that POST was successful. I tried this card in a second PC and the results were exactly the same as on the first. Otherwise, both PCs run fine and work with PCI-E graphics cards. First has 650W, second 430W PSUs, so lack of power is not an issue. Both are fairly modern, first an i5-2500K, second an A6-3500.
I decided that the card must be DOA and sent it back. However Scan tested it as fully working. If anyone from Scan wants to check, the number is 345525.
Does anyone have any idea how to proceed with all this? If Scan tested it OK, then I suppose this card *works* but it still doesn't work with either of my systems. I am certain that this isn't a result of user error. I've done this plenty of times before, and in any case, putting in a graphics card isn't rocket science.

HFX,
I could only assume that the card is not compatible with your hardware, the test report is as follows:
Displays fine, currently running on Heaven Benchmark @ 1080p.
Heaven ran fine for 20 mins, then tested all outputs on the card and they all display.
As the card was returned within the cooling off period I can request a refund for you, but please be aware that Scan would deduct £10 plus VAT to cover the cost of collecting the card.
Please let us know how you would like to proceed.
Kind regards,

Have you tried another monitor, if possible?

watercooled,
I tried it on two monitors, both via DVI out. I doubt this would have made any difference, though, since both systems didn't POST.
Mick@SCAN,
I just tried researching any hardware compatibility requirements related to the R9 270. The only thing I could find had to do with the PSU:
"For a system using a single Radeon R9 270 graphics card AMD specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater system power supply. The power supply should also have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 28 Amps or greater and have at least one 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors."
(Tom's Hardware post, cannot include the url)
My power supply provides 650W system power and 53A on +12V rail along with 2 6+2 pin PCI-E connectors, comfortably exceeding the requirements. I honestly have no clue what else about my system could be causing a compatibility problem - and such a severe one that it wouldn't even POST with the card attached. Here are the full system specs for reference, copied straight from my Scan order email ;)
Intel Core i5 2500K
MSI P67A-GD53 (B3)
650W Corsair Enthusiast 650TXV2
8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR3
120GB Corsair Force Series 3
1TB Western Digital WD10EALX
LiteOn IHAS124-19
Regarding your suggestion of a refund, I made this purchase via Scan finance (together with a BenQ BL211 monitor - works great btw!) I have a feeling this may complicate the refund process since the total order amount would then go under £300 minimum. Furthermore, I still need another video card and I'd be quite happy to get it from Scan.
If there's no solution to this issue with the XFX 270, I'd obviously have to go for a different card. Probably the 280 or the 280X - how would this work with the Scan finance terms?
