Lightbulb Vega 56 becoming increasingly unstable

    Hi Scan

I bought a Vega 56 on release late August 2017. It was fine for a while but increasingly over the last 2-3 months it has become unstable. Now almost always when waking the monitor from sleep the mouse will freeze a lot (as will the PC / keyboard), wiggling the mouse will get the PC to become responsive again eventually (20-30s) and sometimes the screen will flash and previous drivers will show occasionally a link error popup (haven't had this in 3-5 days but it was common before, did change drivers). I have also had about 4-7 crashes where the system will just randomly reboot when the screen is in sleep mode, once it knocked out some boot info so I had to repair the install which was quite hard.

A change I did was to install fast DDR 4 3200 but I've run windows memory diagnostic on that and it has passed so I don't think it's that.

I think I will need to RMA this card. Is there anything else you want me to test before organising an RMA, and if so what? I'm running latest drivers and Win 10 64 Fall Creators Update. How long does the RMA likely take and how do we go about organising it? Are you able to send out any other card since I don't have an APU and so will need another GPU for the interim?

    thanks

    Millennium,

I am very sorry to hear about the issues you are having, I would recommend submitting a returns query via the Scan website:

    https://www.scan.co.uk/help/orders/r...urning-an-item

If at all possible check the graphics card with another computer to see if the fault follows the card. If you wanted to ensure the memory is okay, running memtest86 would be your best bet:

    Kind regards,

Re: Vega 56 becoming increasingly unstable

    Hi Mick

I've received an RMA number and a DPD label. I just wanted to confirm some things:

    - I need to take it to a DPD site. Are these on the high street or are there not many of them?

    - I read that I will need to box up the card with bubble wrap. So if I take it to DPD with just the original box bubble wrapped and with the label attached they won't take it?

    - Any other tips for successful RMA?

    thanks
