AMD - Athlon 64 FX (Socket F) CPUs

I was under the impression that you got 2 CPUs in one box.

Or was that changed and when? If it was ever going to be 2 CPUs per box.

So it is now

Box Content:
• 1x CPU
• 1x Heatsink & Fan


Im not saying im going to be buying it, just wondering. Well actually it is cheaper than the cheapest Core 2 Quad. The silly ASUS motherboard which is insanely expensive ruins it really.

What is the power requirments for this aswell? e.g. 2 FX-70s the Asus mobo a 8800GTS/GTX and 2Gb DDR2 800

Yes, it is apparently just one cpu per box.

Another thing to think about, is that the only versions of vista that will run with dual socket mobos are, Business, Enterprise or Ultimate. Home (basic or premium) will not run with more than one socket (maybe they will do something about it later?). So if you were upgrading to vista, you are forced into buying the most expensive versions.

Dual socket boards will normally work fine using one processor, like an SLI mainboard using one card.

OK, but would vista still require the more expensive versions, even if there was only one socket occupied?

Also, I would have thourght that the whole point of buying that type of mobo, would be to run two socket f fx cpus.
