    RMA, what is going on?

    Hi Scan,
so I've been working all day on an urgent piece of work for my manager which took up the whole day which was solid without any breaks apart from lunch and I get sleeted on the way home so I have not had time to check my personal email. Last wednesday I raised an RMA on a suspected DoA board, which I did after seeking help on the forums here, which I did on a last resort.

I've found out my RMA was rejected, apparently the socket was damaged. I've done CPU installation on a number of machines for family, so I was not expecting this to happen. On Thursday night, I got my friend from work to test my CPU to check to test drive my CPU as I was considering getting the same board as his should a replacement fail as there have been some other users of my board who have recieved dodgy boards. My CPU was picked up fine on his motherboard, so this points that I correctly installed the CPU on my board.

I feel Scan are avoiding the original reason that the board was RMA'ed; that being that it was a DoA board and using this as an excuse. RMA number available on request.

    Sincerely,
    An angry customer.

    Mosherben,

Unfortunately we have rejected the returned main board due to physical damage to the CPU socket as this is not covered under your warranty.

If you wish I have pictures of the damage and will email them to you.

I can also arrange for the board to be returned back to you free of charge.

    Best Regards

    Phil,
thanks for the reply. Yes, do forward pictures to the email address associated with my account.

So am I assuming, because you saw damage to the socket that you did not bother to actually test whether the board was faulty as this was the original reason that the board was RMA'ed?

Have at the link below to see what I got suggusted in the forums:

    Phil,
I have seen both attached pictures, would just like some clarification as to whether it was the actual pins which were damaged.

If that is the case, I do seem to remember the cpu socket coming exactly like that when I first recieved the board. Has anyone had any problems like this from Asus themselves?

So could you advise what to do if I went straight to Asus, exactly what would be involved, and time frames? I am fairly sure that the board came exactly like that.

I think the problem is how can you prove that? Most companies state that you HAVE to report ANY damage to the product within a few days of receiving it.

All damage must be reported within 48 hours of receipt, I have checked and you never reported any damage to us.

We cannot give leadtimes from Asus you would need to discuss this with them directly.

Ok no probs. Scan can use the board as a paperweight in that case.

A quick request: I've just made an order today which has reached Stage 2. Is it possible to get this shipped out today if at all possible as both parts are in stock?
