    3XS Triad....yum....but questions

Hopefully in a month or two I'll be splashing out on a brand new system and the 3XS Triad is what I want.

But need to confirm one or two things. CPU is watercooled, and judging from the config option on Scans site, I could also have 2 GPU's watercooled too.

One review I found online suggested that the fans still caused a little noise. It's something that doesn't bother me, but out of interest, what's the current set up like? The review are old, and obviously subtle but significant changes have been made since then.

Also, do Scan now overclock the CPU?

I think these are my only queries really. If the CPU and GPU's are all watercooled and noise isnt too bad....and the CPU is overclocked, then its the best ready made system I've seen (at least for what I'm after).

Also - Windows Vista 64bit of 32bit?...........I have Crysis in mind, along with Alan Wake.

try going on the website and configuring it yourself?

as for oc'ing i don't see the option for the triad but i have seen it on the other scan systems so i am assuming you can't get it pre oc'd

hence my questions. I've already configured the pc to the specs I want it too. What I'm asking is simply for some clarity or confirmation. Spending 4k+ on a system.....I need to know the little things are just right

After checking with the systems manager that is automatically overclocked for you as standard due to it encorporating watercooling into the design.

As for levels of overclocking, I cannot really gauge how much extra equipment would give as it can change depending on configuration.

In regards to the fans, the system shows that the sharkoon 'golf ball' fans which are some of the quietest fans we currently have at the present time so hopefully using these will quieten the system a bit more.

    Best Regards,

In regards to the 32/64 bit question it's really down to personal choice now. The best thing I can advise is to check if there are updates etc for the software you are looking to use especially when looking to implement a 64-bit operating system.

TBH, the reason I'm going to buy this particular pc is purely for gaming. I know that Crysis will have a 32 and 64 bit option, but other than games I don't think I'll be using any apps that require 64 bit. Is it overkill to get a 64 bit version of Vista just for one game? (though I'm guessing other games will also take advantage of 64 bit OS's).

    no don't get 64bit

pretty pointless right now, some games don't support it even new games e.g. C&C3
64bit doesn't support 16bit apps so you can't go back to some really old school game loving
64bit also require ALL drivers to be digitally signed, so if your having problems with certain drivers there's no way you can go and try some beta's to see they help etc

64bit is a hinderence at the moment, it's not really going to get supported well because there is 32bit vista which is what everyone is taking up. Microsoft really should have pushed 64bit with vista for the future.

    Best Regards,
Lets just say this is from the horses mouth ehh Lee

If you was to take a QX6700 Extreme CPU we would factory overclock it to 3Ghz. That is what we have found to be a sweet spot regarding reliability and Value for money. Personally I have had these and other chips much faster but then we have to consider a commercial viable solution.

Eg. We could put a few more 0.X volts through the CPU but I'm sure most peeps would run their systems at a slightly lower clock based on lifespan.

Regarding the noise levels, we've implemented subtle changes to the spec since the reviews which have made these systems more appealing.

Come to mention it I have been carrying out testing today on 120mm fans to make the Triads even quieter

We are constantly striving to better ourselves within system specs everyday to give the customer the best possible system.

I hope this answers your questions. If you need any further info .....just ask

It does mate. In around 4/5 weeks time I'll be placing the order for the pc. All the small worries I had are pretty much gone now. Cheers!!

Yeah, answers all the worries I had as well.

Is the RAM also overclocked? I am guessing it is as it is the dominator ram which is pretty much made for overclocking.

Worth noting that whilst 32-bit will remain "mainstream" for some time *all* WHQL drivers for Vista must ship in 32 and 64 bit versions so driver issues will diminish over the course of the year.

WRT 16 bit games, if you want to run old school you could always consider the use of VPC 2007...
