you looked at the 620w modular corsair ?

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=446787

Recent tests have shown its probably the 2nd best modular psu available, im going to upgrade to one when i sell my 580w hiper type r. The corsair is more than capable of sli and a high end cpu.

All of the above are EXCELLENT PSU's & are THE MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

My personal choice for the most demanding systems is the Corsair HX 620W from only $150!
I totally agree with him, it's excellent and the 520's not too shabby either

Like i said i own the hiper 580w, it copes with my e6600 and 7950gt fine but wouldnt cope with another 7950gt if i was to sli ( which i won't as its pointless now 8 series are out ) if you want to future proof yourself with a power supply that is modular and can cope with sli and high end cpu's get the corsair , and as for the 520w corsair i wish i had of bought that instead of my 580w hiper lol, i was attracted to shineyness of the hiper i suppose

indeed the 620w corsair is a very good psu because it has a monster 12v rail making it perfect for the super power gaming rigs of today

Are you doing a major upgrade or just the PSU?

    Hello all

Thanks for thr replys, but i am not going to get the corsair one, i know its good and all, but i just dont fancy it. i was going to get the hiper 730w one, as i thought it was dam good too, from the few reviews i have read on google, i normally dont really like hiper, (just preference) but this one looked different, only thing was the design of it!, But if you guys really dont think i should get it, what you say to the emermax 650w?

Ackrite26's question, "Are you doing a major upgrade or just the PSU?" I have done it all really just wanted a good psu, and was looking at which 8800 gts card to stick in

    Thanks

I know you might like the looks of other things etc but what it comes down to is a PSU is there to give clean stable power to your pc and that is what you should be most worried about firstly

The Corsair is the best you will find.....if you don't want it then that's fine but it is still the best value for money.

As grayg1 says, the looks shouldn't matter, it's like buying a hi-fi system because it looks nice when the sound is what matters

But whatever happens we tried our best.

How are the looks important? When it's installed in most cases you won't be able to see it. The Corsair has had rave reviews all over the place but at the end of the day it's your choice.

get the corsair, its best performing and value for money, if you want a " cosmetic rig " then get a hiper, you want a " performance rig " get the corsair

Well lads thanks for the info, and i do appreciate the time put in but in the end i went for the Enermax Infiniti 720W, just wanted something with a bit more power, fits perfectly and plenty of grunt in the shiny box

    Thanks again

Good luck, but at the end of the day i would say the Corsair was the 'more resilient' of the two and of course it comes with a 5 year guarantee, versus the 3 Year from Enermax.....enjoy

    Your Welcome.
