    XFX 7600 GS Problems

Bought the Xtreme version of the XFX 7600 GS graphics card. Very pleased with the performance but it has caused my computer to lock up twice since I installed it yesterday, as in proper lock up requiring a hard power off and reset. Have removed the side of the case and the heatsink is so hot I can't actually touch it... now that wouldn't normally bother me but the crashing obviously does...

Before I return it, am I likely to have the same problem with another of the same card (it's clocked at 500/900 with passive cooling, compared with standard 400/700 that most GS cards are) or is it likely just to be a bad one?

Strange, I have just RMA'd my 7600GS, although it wasn't the Xtreme version. My card was artifacting, and there were purple patches all over the screen. It did this occasionally from the start, but they got so bad I couldn't concentrate properly, even in Word! My advice would be to RMA the card as well!

I'm planning to RMA it. Just trying to decide whether to swap it for the same or something different

I had to RMA the exact card too not too long ago (XFX 7600GS passive) due to artifacting to hell
It was NFF'ed once, then taken back with the fault found - It was sent to XFX which took about a week. It was for repair or replacement, but I was given a brand new one as far as I can tell

I'm noticing a recurring theme with these cards

Might just return it for a refund, I'm only had it 3 days so I should have no problems getting a refund or a swap for a different card...

Did you send yours from Scan to XFX or direct to XFX? I notice these cards come with lifetime warranties honoured by XFX but I'm not convinced at the number of these that seem to be faulty.

To Scan. They then sent it to XFX.

It was faulty from day one, I just left it ages to RMA it due to other things I was busy with. Scan might have swaped it with one of the shelf it I had done it sooner

Today my computer won't even boot up with the XFX card in. I'm starting to have serious doubts about this card and don't know whether to return it for a replacement, or whether just to order a different make and return it for a refund.

What would you guys recommend? The Gigabyte one looks a good idea, (slightly slower as memory is running at standard clock speeds) but currently out of stock... hopefully in stock this week though

The replacement ive had has been fine, I think they just had a dodgy batch

Provided you have good air flow in the case, Passive is good!

Card was returned yesterday and I ordered another of the same.

I notice this card has since been removed from the website... is this likely to be due to the reliability or some other reason?

I was hoping to go for a different make but all the ones I looked at were out of stock at the time of ordering... now they're all in stock!

That has been temporarily removed but as yet is not flagged as end of life.

I'll need to check on Monday when everyone's back in to see whats going on with that series of cards.

    Best Regards,
