    Long delivery times!

    I was just about to order a Barebone system and proccesor from scan and added items to basket.

    On going to checkout the earliest delivery date (except Saturday extra £30+!!!!) was next Monday!

    I thought today was Wednesday?

    Whats wrong with Thursday delivery?
    Whats wrong with Friday delivery?

    When most people decide they want something they usually want it yesterday!

    When I get home tonight I need to do a screwfix order - I will do by email at 5:30 / 6:00 and it will be delivered tomorrow morning (free of charge) shame they dont have a big range of computer bits.

    Guess I'l have to find a supplier that can deliver by the weekend.

    Dude your over reacting. There are more people then just you ordering.

    I think SCAN's estimates are based on orders they currently have on going.

    You would probably expect to pay a small amount to any supplier for weekend delivery.

    PM someone from SCAN and see what they can do to help

    Yeah I just made an order and was surprised to see it was estimated for monday.

    This isn't a complaint about saturday delivery charges its the fact that they seem to have slipped back to long lead times again.

    I miss that days of ordering one day it turning up always the next with scan.

    Better than then giving you a date we didn't believe we could reach.

    Remember this is an estimated date... if theres any chance it can go sooner, it will... (unless you've requested a later date of course)

    Yeah, I placed an order on Tuesday and the estimated delivery is Friday. It just seems that the dispatch times from the warehouse are getting longer. I can remember when most times orders would be delivered within one or two days.

    Personally, I'd rather they did this than promise next day delivery and let me down and definately better than the "let's put prices up to pay for more warehouse staff"

    Placed my order at 9:01am today (Thursday 17/05/2007) for an Asus Pundit P1-AH2 and a AMD 5000+ CPU both showing stock.

    Would be nice to see if they could be delivered quickly.

    Yes I'd rather know that it was going to take this long and I do think scan are very honest in this regard.

    However it doesn't fix the fact that its a very long time to wait for an order, I was thinking that things were beginning to get sorted and the order times was settling at around 2 days.

    Out of interest does Scan work on a Tesco style "day booking" system? I.e. the system knows how many orders have been requested for delivery on any one day and after so many, it stops you booking that particular day?

    I guess the system knows how many orders, on average, it can pick pack and dispatch in a given tine frame and then works out the dispatch date from that and the number of orders proceding yours.

    Perhaps it even takes the size of orders into account. Obviously 50 orders of 2 items each aren't going to take as long as 40 orders that are basically complete system builds.

    Just so you don't get your hopes too high, I always get those emails very shortly after the order (apart from the time I supplied incorrect credit card details )
