Wrong CPU Shipped
Hi Guys,
I ordered the Brisbane 3600 as per the page below and instead was shipped a Windsor 3600.
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=565178
Would it be possible to send me the right CPU? The code on the top line of the CPU itself should read ADO3600IAA5DD to go with the ADO3600DDBOX code as specified on your website. For comparison the code on the top line of my CPU reads ADO3600IAA4CU.
The invoice number is **removed**.
I've never had a problem with a Scan order before so hopefully this can be sorted out quickly, as I was planning the build for the end of the week.
Cheers!

I had the same problem. The cpu I ordered was incorrectly advertised, wrong core and wrong L2 cache. I did manage to get them to change the CPU in the end.
All the latest Energy Efficient 65w cpus are Brisbane core (65nm). Windsor is the older core (90nm) though a few of the older Windsor core did come as EE versions.
Scan haven't specified on the website whether the processor you ordered is Brisbane or Windsor core as the 3600 EE comes in both cores. However they have put in the Technical Specifications page Core Size: 65 nm so this indicates it is a Brisbane core CPU, which is probably another advertising mistake as I am guessing they only have Windsor core 3600s.

They have specified the processor as a Brisbane by using the Manufacturer Code "ADO3600DDBOX" on the product page. On the AMD Compare website, this specifies a Brisbane core, as per the link below:
http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desk...=ADO3600IAA5DD
Anyway, I've had nothing but great service from Scan so I'm confident that they can sort this out.

Strange ...
I will look into this for you tomorrow

Hi Chris,
I've spoken with Carrie and apparently all of your stock of 3600s are the Windsor core instead of the Brisbane advertised. I have arranged a return and refund for tomorrow. I guess when there are similar CPUs with the same model number things can get confusing!

Looks like I've been caught out in a similar way - except I stupidly put it in the system that my HTPC is running on.
I'm not a happy bunny as I especially bought this CPU because of the 512k cache.
Will contact Scan directly.

I had put the cpu in my system too. Only realised it was the wrong cpu after running CPU-Z.
Anyway that will not matter if they had advertised it incorrectly. Only thing is take a screenshot / printout of the cpu page showing it advertised incorrectly.

Yeah, I noticed that it said 2x256k on bootup so then tried CPU-Z. Confirmed it was a Winsor core without the cache :(

Looks as if I was lucky - ordered the Brisbane on the day that Scan first listed it and got it!
Does run nice and cool.
Peter.
