Not rumoured - has been widely reported across the net and on reliable news resources such as Bloomberg. Q6600 should be coming in at around £180.

Q6600 is coming down to $266 USD. That is what the E6600 came down to. (not exactly though cos that price will be like for a lot of 100 CPUs or something) but basically the Q6600 will be around the price of a E6600 now. But it will probaiblly be £30/£40 more because its a Quad core. So it should be <£180

Our pricing is real time. As soon as any changes are made in new stock - real, not rumoured, they will be reflected.

I'm really interested in buying a Q6600 but I've heard they produce a lot of heat and need a lot of cooling, is this correct?

I think that's the case when you try to overclock them but it should be fine when you run it at stock. I haven't read too much into quad core though so I may be wrong.

You can't really expect Scan to comment on price cuts, when they happen they will happen will be the best response.

    Yes, thats right.

The stock cooler, is a beefed up stock intel one, and mine hits 70c at stock, no problem.

Is yours a retail B3 though Matt? Someone told me the other week that his ES showed as around 15c cooler than the retail B3 versions.

My room is hotter than 24c, so even with watercooling, its not gonna happen here

if your not overclocking then 5300 is fine, but the price differnce between 6400 and 5300 is like...a tenner under... so you might aswell get some, then if you feel the pc dying a little you can easily overclock

I'm going to see if the price cuts are true and maybe get myself a Q6600 and put my E6600 into a media centre PC I'm planning on building.
