    Promise SATA300 TX2+ Problems

    Got this on the 1st
Promise SATA300 TX2+ - 2 Port SATAII 1 Port IDE PCI Controller with NCQ Support have had nothing but issues with it.

Latest is with trying to run on my asus p5k in the following configuration:-
    1) Jmicron controler - to handle 2x e-sata ports.
    2) tx2 - with 2x sata hard drives. originnaly had a dvd on here but on booting with it the hd boot priority is screwed so it has to be 2x HD. Am still waiting for a reply from promise on this.
    3) on board sata ports 1-6 - configured for matrix raid
    4x80gb Hitachi sata 2

when posting the jmicron initialises & detects drives, followed by the tx2.
I then get the following No enough Space to copy PCI Option ROM [xxxxx]
    Press F1 to Resume
    The ich9r controller doesn''t initialise

The tx2 & ich9r controller work if the jmicron is disabled
jmicron & ich9r controller work fine if tx2 is removed.

I have looked for some pointers & have found the following links which identify the issue:-

The display of this POST error message is a result of certain adapters and/or adapter option ROM utilities requesting an exorbitant amount of option ROM space that depletes all space available for other installed PCI adapters and on-board components
Insufficient memory to Shadow PCI ROM
    sounds like[QUOTE]
This shows exactly the same error as i am experiencing.
No enough Space to copy PCI Option ROM [05:02:01]
    Press F1 to Resume
the cause etc., tally with intel's statementt.

No enough Space to copy PCI Option ROM [05:02:01] error???

i have contacted promise but am still waiting a response from my original query on the 13th about booting from a dvd attached to the card., so i'm not holding my breath.

So in summary i have a card which has a major incompatability issue I would appreciate any help.

    thanks

    EDIT:
    Forgot to add:-
Have disabled all unwanted devices to relaease irq resource.
Have got the latest firmware/bios - according to promises's site there has been none since it's launch, on boot bios date is 2004.

Just got a reply from promise :-
    Case Id: 42826
    Brief Description: after some time...
    Status: Closed
Case Problem: after some time struggling with the above card i think i have diagnosed the issue. I am trying to get the following configuration running:- Asus p5K p35 motherboard:- On Board:- Jnicrin controller - 2x e-sata ports ich9r - matrix raid controller 4x80gb sata2 raid 0 1x 320gb sata 2 1x sata dvd drive Sata 300 Tx2 2x sata2 The issue i have is that all three wont run together. jmicron & then the tx2 initialise & detect drives, i then get the error "No enough Space to copy PCI Option ROM " & the ichr9 initialisation & detection fails. If i remove the TX2 all is fine both jmicron & intel work. Disable jmicron tx2 & Intel work. I m using the latest firmware/bios which doesn't appear to have been updated since the products launch in 2004 I have found a reference to the problem http://www.intel.com/support/motherb.../cs-016707.htm "The display of this POST error message is a result of certain adapters and/or adapter option ROM utilities requesting an exorbitant amount of option ROM space that depletes all space available for other installed PCI adapters and on-board components. The Intel Server Board BIOS displays this POST error message to indicate that it could not load other option ROMs due to lack of sufficient memory." Seems to sum up my issue exactly. I have disabled all un-needed devices already with no change. I can percieve of no way that i could get the tx2 to initialise last, which may or may not help. Is there any solution to this issue or should i return the card as being incompatable. thankyou
Case Solution: The onboard ich9 or jmicron might still consume some resources which can not be disabled from the motherboard. Therefore you might be unable to use the card with your motherboard. You can try to place the card to another slot and make sure you have installed the latest driver and BIOS.
therefore you might be unable to use the card with your motherboard
    Seems to be the case.

    Can i return this please??
