    Question 8800 cooler replacement

    Quick question?

Will that Zalman cooler fit on a 8800GTS? and wouldn't that invalidate the EVGA Warranty?

Any changes to the cooler automatically invalid your warranty.

As for the 8800 series as yet none of the aftermarket coolers are showing to be compatible.

I've moved this to it's own thread as it was created in another one and it was getting a bit messy.

    Best Regards,

I've been advised on another forum that a Zalman VF900-Cu cannot be paired with the 8800GTS. The only choice besides watercooling is the Thermalright HR-03 PLUS, but searching Scan's site gives no results anyway.

I need to consider performance versus noise. I may decide to leave out a GFX card altogether for the time being, until I get back into gaming then consider an 8800GTS versus a silent 8600. Hmm...

    Re: 8800 cooler replacement

As far as I am aware changing the cooler does NOT void an EVGA warrenty as long as you don't physically damage the card:

This limited lifetime warranty is valid for the life of the retail product, so long as the original purchaser owns the product, based upon the following conditions:

    *snip*

    - There is no physical damage to the PCB, GPU/chipset, or components that are caused by: Damage due to improper installation, damage during modification of any kind, damage during any type of Aftermarket cooling installation, and water damage of any kind.

    Re: 8800 cooler replacement

Some manufactureres are very strict, others are more lenient. If in doubt try to check with the manufacturers suport direct.
For example Gainward have quite a list of exclusions that will void your warranty, but most are common sense.
