    Asus P5N-E Compatability

I'm about to order an Asus P5N-E-based system for use with a Core 2 Duo E6750. Now, I've read on a few forums that some older P5N-E boards with the initial BIOS revision will not POST when used in combination with an E6750 processor.

Can anyone from Scan confirm that the P5N-E boards being sold use a later BIOS revision? I don't fancy putting it all together only to be greeted with a blank screen of doom and destruction.

    Cheers.

The older BIOS's for the P5N-E were terrible. I almost RMA'd mine because I thought the board was fried. Scan will update the BIOS for £10 if you ring them up.

Hm, I've done a little digging and found out that the P5N-E comes with "EZflash 2" which apparently allows you to update the BIOS directly on POST, even with an unrecognized CPU...did I get the wrong end of the stick or am I going to have to borrow my mate's E6600 to do this?

Never tried it, someone from scan will give you a definite answer or have a look on the ASUS user forums.

I bought an Asus Stiker extreme the other week with A E6859 cpu and was worried aswell.

The mobo shipped with a bios dated in february and at least 3 revisons out of date - however it posted first time.
I then used EZflash to flash to the lastest bios - then installed windows.

But for £10 you can have piece of mind and no worries about fryin your own board
