Order Placed on Tuesday Morning - Why did Scan wait until Friday to Ship

I'm chasing up my most recent City Link Saturday Failure.

They are claiming that because they didn't pick the package up until Friday, the bad weather delayed them so they didn't get it to the depot in time (not what the city link women on Saturday said, who said it was out for delivery - but thats not the point.)

Scan mailed me on Tuesday/Wednesday with order updates saying it was ready for shipping. Why did scan wait until Friday - 1 day before delivey to allow City Link to pick it up, when it was ready on Wednesday, surly allowing them to pick it up on Wednesday earlier would help remove delivery problems, or is this done to stop goods being left with city link for inter depot football matches at the city link delivery "hub".

    Not a complaint a query.

    ikonia,

This is probably down to the date the website set as the day for picking and then dispatching. When an order is set for delivery for example on a Saturday, then the parcel is dispatched from us on Friday, so it goes through to city-link who then take it out for delivery on the day set and this ensures that the parcels are not held or stored with citylink any longer than is necessary. It has always been standard practise to dispatch Saturday Deliveries on Friday.

As you can imagine, usually there are no issues with this happening as City-Link travel the length of the UK overnight in order to get parcels to their destination. Anyone driving at about 1-2am down the M6 or M1 will have seen the convoys

However, with this weekends severe weather and flooding problems with some major road networks, some areas deliveries might not have got through in time but this is not something we had control over.

    Best Regards,
