    asus commando and dead corsair-possibly?

    Hi all.
Well it ran well while it was running -
Just came up to check my boinc scores and drag a few pics off my phone, when suddenly AVG through up a virus warning on boinc followed in the blink of an eye by a restart.

    Seen this before i thought.
Cleared the cmos tried to reboot and rear display "chipinit".
    Great here we go again.
Pulled out the battery and left it an hour.
Pulled out 1 stick of ram re started and low and behold "detdram".
Have now gone through both sticks in all slots with just a normal clear cmos in between "detdram" every time.
I will take myself to (spit on the floor) pc world tomorrow and by a stick of the cheapest ddr2 and try and get it up and running.
The wife will kill me if i loose the last 4 months worth of pics.
Please feel free to have a flick through this thread when it happend last time.

As you may remember, I went through 3 sets of RAM with the 3 commandos that I have. I know of quite a few other people that have had RAM killed by the commando as well.

The problem is proving that the commando did it.

Good luck with this, but my advice would be to dump the commando and get something else, or you will probably find yourself back here in a few days/weeks/months.

    Hi again clunk
    Nice to hear from you.
On the last RMA i did ask scan if they would swap out the board for a different item, but they declined.
Thought that it may just of been a bad pack of ram.
Lets hope this time we can resolve it.

Will take myself off to pcworld after breakfast and get a stick of cheap ram so i can get all my stuff off it.
Dont want to get a shoeing for loosing pics if the board has to go back.
