    Seasonic M12-500 PSU

    Hi,

Being put off the Corsair (due to a) buzzing/whining issues and b) lack of UK support). I am maybe considering getting one of these Seasonic PSUs instead but again they only seem to list 6Pin PCIe cables.

Why is it with the New Radeon cards using 8Pin cables that PSUs still don't seem to be supporting them?

Anyone got any experience of this PSU and advice on if its possible to get 8Pin PCIe cables? Also how quiet are they compared to the Corsair?

    Cheers,

    Mike

You can still plug in a 6 pin PCIe cable into the 8pin socket on the ati card... not recommended but it does work I think

Not sure I would fancy doing that.

I think it does work... but if you are buying another PSU anyway buy one with 8pin also.

2 x 6pin in the ATi is fine. You just can't overclock it.

Yes, but surely it makes sense for me to buy a PSU with 8Pin also for the future use if I change graphics card as 8Pin is probably how its going to go. I honestly cannot understand why the PSU manufacturers are being so slow about the issue.

So if I am spending money now it doesnt make sense to buy a PSU which if I upgrade my graphics card in 8-10 months I would have to replace the PSU again.

What are the new Cooler Master PSUs like? The Real Power M520 comes with 6Pin and 8Pin cables but I have not seen any reviews of it.

I doubt it, I think it's just Amd/ATI being weird

2x6 pins for normal use i.e no overclocking.

The 8 pin is only needed for overclocking.

Stormy if you brought the Corsair from scan then RMA it because it has 5 year warranty
