    Auzentech X-fi Prelude - When?

Hi there, I preordered this sound card late last week with the assumption that it would be out in the next few weeks (not immediately). However, payment has been taken and according to the Scan emails it should be dispatched today. While I think this is unlikely, I'd still like to know when the ETA for this card is? Many thanks!

Edit: The LN No is 19041.

Ooh is this some kind of new sound card? I'm after a sound card right now and the Creative ones seem to have some kind of issue with Vista (not that I have that, but I imagine I will shift over at some point).

Scan's site says it would be available until the 31st.

The Prelude will have the same issues as the Creative cards, as they use the same drivers, which to be fair is Creative's only fall-point, it's just a rather large one.

As I said in teh other thread, despite what etailers are saying we'll never see these in this country in 2007. Even the states didn't have any the last time I looked. Haven't seen a review, nothing.

Ah I see they updated the page then. I'm quite sure that it said backordered from 31st July a few hours ago unless I'm going crazy.

The Creative X fi cards sound incredibly problematic with Vista which is why I was wanting to go for this one, although as you say the problems may remain as the core drivers/software will be the same. The thing is, I'd like EAX support however I know that EAX is defunct with Vista and I'd need to use some sort of OpenAL conversion software (such as Creative's own Alchemy). Is there a particular card you would recommend that would essentially give me surround sound in games on Vista 64 bit (through emulation or otherwise).

Also, is it customary for Scan to charge the payment card weeks before a product is due in?

Re: Auzentech X-fi Prelude - When?

Couldn't recommend anything as gaming isn't a primary concern of mine, and I always found EAX as an over-the-top gimmick anyway.

Scan take the money soon after you place the order, regardless of stock.
