Can you confirm the no brainer please?

    From the description
Complete with USB 2.0 cable, FireWire 1394a cable*, AC adapter and power cord, quick installation guide and backup software CD.
it says it supports firewire, but the model number suggests otherwise.

    From Seagate's site:

    Combo USB 2.0/Firewire
    400GB
    ST3400601CB-RK
    USB 2.0
    400GB
    ST3400601U2-RK

The model number of the no brainer is ST3400601U2-RK - the USB only version.

Can someone clarify whether or not this supports firewire?

    Ta

Re: Can you confirm the no brainer please?

It is the USB version. If you click the info button and view the specification this confirms it and the model number is for the USB version.

The image with the description on the today only page must be taken from the Seagate site. Notice the * after 'FireWire 1394a cable'. There is probably a foot note on the Seagate site saying *' FireWire 1394a cable' is for the CB-RK version with firewire.

Thanks for that. It's a shame. I'll keep on looking then! I'd get a Firewire 800 enclosure and chuck a disk in that, but they're so expensive

Re: Can you confirm the no brainer please?

I am looking for an enclosure with E-SATA to move my Western Digital My Book Pro II drives too, so may have a WD enclosure for sale soon. It can take upto 2 SATA hardrives and has USB 2.0 and Firewire 400 & 800 connections.
