    E2140 oem's

You were selling these off cheap a while ago http://forums.hexus.net/current-barg...delivered.html are you likely to be getting any more in? Im just after a really cheap cpu upgrade for my niece's comp from a 2.66ghz Celeron.

    thanks.

    Re: E2140 oem's

Sorry guys, the E2140 OEM is now end of life and as such is no longer going to be stocked I'm afraid.

    Best Regards,

Thats good timing Is there a noticeable difference between one of these and a Celeron D331?

    Re: E2140 oem's

    A world of difference!
Even the Cel420 would kick the 331 into the dust (My 420 is good for 2.8GHz+ OC).
What board/ram etc are you going to be using?

    Re: E2140 oem's

    Is an ASrock ConRoe945G-DVI with 2 x 512mb DDR2 and an X1800XL + 160gb Sata hard drive.
Main uses are going to be internet and homework (hopefully lol) but have stuck the X1800 card in there so she can play games too (Sims 2 / Viva Pinata)

The rest of the bits have turned up from Scan today but with the 2140 being so cheap I wondered if it was worth spending an extra £40 on one before I put the system together.

well it'll suport it no problems, I'd say that yes it's worth the £41 (shame about no more oem's )

    Re: E2140 oem's

If the 331 CPU doesnt get too warm you can OC it. I got 3.3GHz+ out of the 2.8 CelD CPU 336, but the heat might be a bit of a problem.

If you have the original Intel fan they come off very easily so you can replace the CPU anytime without too much effort if the current one proves too slow.

Dont know how far you want to go... I mean it is and it isnt worth it! Its more power and less heat.
But is it needed to open IE and powerpoint?! Then you think a little more capable board and a 50% OC, then faster RAM, where does it all end
Stick with it, see how it goes, get her one for an xmas present if its too slow
