Consensus on the Web sems to be good hardware, poor software. Has anyone here actually bought one of these and was it worth getting?

I've not personally used one as I have a soft spot for the hauppauge hardware.

Are you using MCE2005 or one of the Vista operating systems ?

This is because I'm checking with kworld to see if the drivers are BDA so they support MCE2005 and the vista varients media centre. This would then mean all you would need to install is the drivers and not the software.

Once I get a reply from them I'll let you know

I had that one from kworld, was a nightmare to install. eventually had to do a fresh install of windows just to get the drivers loaded. Now it works ok but the software is rudimentary.
Whilst troubleshooting the installs i saw a few sites recommending other software that may work with it for viewing channels but had lost interest in at by then!

Re: Anyone ever used one of these TV dongles?

Bought a KWORLD DVD maker USB2.0 a while back but never got it to work. Total load of crapware particularly the software and zero support (ther support mailboxes are currently offline (full perhaps).
This is what I tried to send to Kworld on my second attempt at getting it working.

"Decided to have another go after failing to get succes 3 eeks ago. SOUND OK but NO VIDEO. Loaded latest PVR and drivers.
Error "Cannot set TV Video standard, please verify your TV video system again (NTSC, PAL or SECAM).(2009) "
Verified drivers OK in device manager. Verified source OK by plugging both S-vid and composite into TV.
Selected PAL L (Im in the UK but same result). Tried both composite and S-video inputs, tried different USB inputs but no siccess.
What is the green light on the unit for - should it be ON - its not
Perhaps I have a faulty unit although VISTA reconises it and intalls drivers when I plug it in.
    Very frustrated
    Thanks in advance.
    KEV"

Avoid this company on lack of support alone.
Also beware products like Kworld DVD maker that claim vista compatable but Vista MCE wont recongnise and also bundle non vista software like ancient versions od Ulead.

p.s Anyone knows how to get one of these to work with Vista 32 or even how to contact Krapworld.

    Nope
They have nice useful sounding products but seems they can be difficult to get working

The american site sometimes has aditional info.

Does anyone have any remotes they recommend that I can use to go with this? I'd prefer if they were also Vista Media centre compatible as I plan to buy home premium early next year when MS have finished it. It would be particularily nice if the remote was capable of starting up/shutting down my PC aswell as I can be a lazy bugger at times
