    Question regarding isotope internal fitting.

On the isotope case, I've found a flaw in the design.

At the front there is a removable mounting wall, for screwing things like cd-drives to. I'm refering to the small one on the left, as you look at the case from the front. If it was the length of the case, it would reach where the PSU fixes to the case.

Due to the size and shape of the isotope a modular PSU is best, to save space. Even with one 16cm long, the 2cm gap between it and the 'bracket' wouldn't be enough for a connector to fit, as there's only an 18cm gap for the PSU, including modular connectors.

I was going to RMA an enermax galaxy 1KW psu, as it's 22cm long, and was gonna swap it with the coolermaster M1000 which is 18cm long.

Looking at how it'd fit in the case though, there's not even space for this psu either as the end of the 'bracket' would have to share the same physical space as one of the connectors on the psu, which I'm sure you understand is impossible.

Re: Question regarding isotope internal fitting.

doesn't sound like a design flaw to me, sounds like you bought a PSU that doesn't fit.

Surly you can't "RMA" an item because you've bought one that doesn't fit ?

I thought RMA was for faults, not miss-purchases or mistakes.
    It is Inevitable.....

im sure scan would offer to exchange it as you brought it in error for one of there products. there good like that

plus you have the 7 day rule to send it back.

Re: Question regarding isotope internal fitting.

The point I'm making here is, if you wanted to screw say a fan controller in the front drive bay, on both sides of it to secure it properly, you'd need the bracket bit in the case.

Therefore, if the bracket is left in, my point is that there's very few PSUs that'll fit in the space between it and the back of the case where the PSU is screwed in place. The gap is only 18cm.

Like I said, it wouldn't matter which PSU I buy, unless it's very small like 16cm long, the PSU won't fit.

One thing I have noticed though, is that the bracket doesn't actually have to be as long as it is. It stretches to be about 3 or 4cm longer than the screw holes for mounting things, so it could be shortened by about an inch at least.

This would free up an extra couple of cm at least, allowing people to fit the coolermaster PSU (eg) or other PSUs of 18cm in length.

I just wanted to bring this to everyones attention, so that they're aware of this information if they want to buy an isotope case. Be aware of size restrictions.

Yep but you are running a PSU which is not 'standard' size - both the CM and Enermax units are huge - standard ATX is a lot smaller....

Re: Question regarding isotope internal fitting.

Very true, but I need at least an 800W PSU for the dual GTXs (says so on the box =P ), so having the extra 200W will be nice piece of mind. Extra spare amps means smoother and more stable running of the system.

I just wanted to point out the space issue so that anyone else who is thinking about getting an isotope case, and putting a beefy PSU in it, is aware of the tight space.

Anyway, I'm just gonna whip out the front bracket bit that it's the way of my enermax, and build the system with what I bought. I won't be returning/changing any parts from the stuff I ordered, including the case.

Already ordered a dvi-dvi cable that I forgot on the original order (doh), and just to spruce things up a little, I may get some kind of lighting gadget to hide in the case, so it looks a bit snazzy when in the dark =P

i still think you are going to see absolutely obscene temps with the kit you were planning to build it with.

Given the money you have spent i also thing its mad to void any warranty you have with the chassis.
