    RMA - Sapphire 256MB X1950XT

Hey folks, so my X1950XT's been playing silly for about a month now but it finally gave up and rolled over this evening after filling my display with a wonderful green and pink light show.

It was bought in January this year so I planned on doing the ol' switchero at Scan HQ - only problem is you don't seem to stock the card anymore so I was just wondering what I should do?

    Thanks as always.

Fill in a form on scan website, wait for RMA number and than send card to scan -> wait for scan response

Yeah I planned to swap it at Scan HQ 'cause it's only up the road but they don't stock the card anymore (or any X1950XT for that matter) so I'm not sure what they'd do.

I wouldn't mind knowing what they lovely folk at Scan did with this RMA actually.

I have the same X1950XT actually and its been playing silly buggers with me, something about the temperature sensor being tripped or something but I gave the card a quick clean and it seems to be okay now.

Would you get a newer DX10 card?

    Re: RMA - Sapphire 256MB X1950XT

I had an motherboard still under warranty but EOL for a few months. They replaced with a Grade B item (same make/model). Dont know if they will do the same for VGA or what happens. If its within 12 months probably you get the money off another card (XFX can be different, ofc its not XFX here, as they make a depreciation based offer). Other than that experience and guess I would be interested to know the procedure too.

    Re: RMA - Sapphire 256MB X1950XT

    Cheers Lucky.

    3DMark06 SM2 Comparison

I'm not sure how reliable that is but it gives a general idea. From various sources and my own use it's consistantly better than the X1950XT, plus it's DX10, has HDMI out, is single slot, AND the stock cooler is mega quiet.

    Rather chuffed!

    Re: RMA - Sapphire 256MB X1950XT

its about an 8800GTS (old one) in performance I believe, which is noticeably faster than the X1900/X1950XTs
