Asus P5K Premium SATA2+RAID/AHCI problems

Basically due to not doing thorough reading beforehand I have encounted this fault:

SATA2 HDDs develop a string of disk error problems when set as AHCI or RAID in the bios.

I have requested an RMA for the board. Will the board be under an extensive testing period? My problems seem to have only developed after OS install and not before it. Other (above) has reported no faults until a few days in.


What is scan's policy regarding this well documented problem?...

I would be interested in find a solution to this problem as I seem unable to create a raid array to install the OS on and have at the moment given up and reverted to a standard IDE setup which works fine.
