I personally would go with 2x2GB then you have room to expand as well especially now RAM is so cheap...

Don't forget if you use 4 x 1 Gb sticks as well, the timings might slightly change to accomidate them all working in unison.
As long as the voltage is raised as w3bbo said you shouldn't have issues. I forgot to do this myself once when adding some extra memory to the system in a rush one night and had a weekend of sitting there wondering why I was getting random BSoD's on the PC.
Yes I agree with e 2 GB x 2 comments. Leaves space for the future.
If you can get 2x2GB for the same price with the same latencies as 4x1GB then it's certainly worth it.
Don't worry about upgrading though. I'm sure there will be little or no need for more than 4GB for a long time.
