    Question Delivery Rates Increased?

Hi - is it just me or have the delivery rates with SCAN increased dramatically? I last placed an order with SCAN in October of 2007 and although I cannot recall the exact delivery rates I am pretty sure it was the normal £5-£10 for standard delivery and £20-£25 for Saturday delivery. I was just about to place an order for some bits and bobs and was amazed that the price for standard delivery is suddenly £20-£25 and Saturday delivery is £50-£55. Seems a bit steep. Have tried to find a post in here on this issue but couldn't find one [hence creating this new post].
Does anyone have any information on the extremely high delivery rates that SCAN suddenly applies? Will they return to normal any time soon? Many thanks in advance.

    Re: Delivery Rates Increased?

check it out for yourself [maybe I have gone insane and am seeing things] - put some random stuff in your basket with SCAN and proceed with checkout until the point where the system asks you how you wish the goods to be delivered. I couldn't believe my eyes [I like SCAN very very much, have built 2 systems with them but if these delivery rates are real then I will have to find a different retailer].

Yeah, it wouldn't be so bad if Scan actually got round to PICKING the damn stuff!

I ordered a stack of bits 6 months ago and paid a small fortune for "next day" delivery. Of course, it then took two days of nagging Scan to get the order marked as "urgent" before someone actually got around to picking it. All-in-all, I got my "next day" delivery three days after I'd ordered it!

Same thing happened last week. Ordered a graphics card, paid additional money for a morning delivery, and was informed it would be delivered Thursday. Guess what - didn't get picked. So, I had to phone on Wednesday, have a moan, get Scan to update the order as "urgent", and then hey-presto it was picked and dispatched within 2 hours! And then, and only then, did it actually get delivered when it was supposed to. Problem is if you phone Scan, they will then rudely inform you that the delivery date is an "estimate", which isn't much use when the delay is actual due to them not picking stuff, and you've already been charged for the postage.

This really is an area that Scan need to improve on - especially if the postage costs have gone up again.

    Re: Delivery Rates Increased?

nope - Scotland. But I just tried again [after having emptied my basket and put some stuff back] - standard delivery at £5.95 - must have gone a bit overboard with the quantity of small items in my original order. mea culpa for posting without cause.
