That's quite bad... all the stuff I've got overclocks nicely. (Not helpful but I don't know what else to suggest, I've never heard many people struggling to overclock corsair)

I don't believe for one minute that scan only stock corsair because its 'the best'. If that were the case then why stock AMD cpu's or cheap PSU's? Corsair are very reliable and also very compatable memory but are far from being an overclockers dream. There are other modules that overclock better and for less ££. I would think that Scan and corsair have some sort of deal that is mutually benificial.

It is a shame that scan dont stock other high end ram though as I too have to buy ram elsewhere along with no doubt thousands of others, which is painfull but neccesary if you want the choice of top end gear. I hope scan change there outlook on this matter and start stocking some crucial, Gskill, OCZ etc. Its the only fault I can find with Scan atm.

Some of us happen to prefer Crucial, Geil, Cellshock, GSkill, OCZ, Mushkin, Team e.t.c but you don't stock any of those

I really think it's about time Scan started focusing on their customers requirements as their website says they do and stock some of the other world class memory that is available.

Don't get me wrong, I love Scan as much as the next man but Corsair and noname only memory is bizarre to say the least, give us what we want, you'll make even more money

That is dire......if it's ProMos you should expect better than that, it usually responds well to extra voltage. You must just have been unlucky. If you want any links to cheap good overclocking kits then PM me, I don't want to link to other websites in the Scan forum.

    Re: Lack of overclockable memory

I have another update it wasn't the ram that was the problem it was my Q6600 it just won't go over 400 fsb at 1.55v. Even lowering the multi to 6 doesn't make a difference it won't boot. So I put in a E8400 and have it priming at 9x450 for 4.05ghz at 1.3v and mem 900mhz at cas5. Temps are only 44c at load.

    Re: Lack of overclockable memory

Well that sounds more like it.
Try with Vmem at 2.1V what you can get.
    Good luck!

    Re: Lack of overclockable memory

was going to post a similar thread till i saw this.

i want a 2x2GB 6400+ ram kit and i dont want to spend more than £80-£90 on it.

Geil sell them, OCZ, GSkill etc....but unfortunately not through SCAN, so hence i will be buying from elsewhere! i hope the rebate from Corsair is enough to outweigh the lost volume of customers...

    Re: Lack of overclockable memory

i have also noticed the lack of choice on memory at scan and this means i look at other suppliers sites more often to see what they have.

perhaps they have an exclusive deal with corsair for the performance kit, but as a consumer i would love more choice in the offerings considering in almost everyother dept they have exactly what im looking for.

what would be absolutely fantastic is if scan were to become resellers for DFI boards. seems almost no one else wants. now that would be truly magic.

    Re: Lack of overclockable memory

DFi have a bad returns policy though, makes it arkward for the retailer to handle rma's easily!

but my best 939 board was a DFi UT 2x16x PCI-e jobby i picked up cheap.

    Re: Lack of overclockable memory

As far as i know there is only one other stockist for DFI in UK. but their customer services is not as good as scan, not even close but if scan became distributor rather than just reseller then the returns might not be as big an issue. any way sry this thread was about ram.
