    Lack of RAM voltages

Just been looking around a few e-tailers for DDR2 6400 (particularly 4GB kits). I've recently got hold of ASROCK AM2 upgrade board for my 939dual SATA2, which AFAIK only handles RAM rated in the 1.7 to 1.9v range. I've seen a few posts on forums stating that the board won't post with RAM rated much higher than that range. Unlike a few other sites, it seems that Scan don't list the required voltages in the specs for RAM. Unfortunately this means I can't consider buying the RAM from Scan without doing further research.

This is disappointing, as I've been pleased with how quickly you sent me a grapics card and PSU recently. Any chance this could be rectified in the non-too-distant future please?

Edit: A quick google shows exactly what I would be buying but it's an important part of the spec that should really be listed.

    Re: Lack of RAM voltages

Wellaccording to this page DDR2 SDRAM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia the DDR standard is 1.8v, so anything out with the 1.7-1.9v shouldn't be called DDR2.

I would assume that as Scan only stock Corsair, and Corsair are a reputable manufacturer, that you would be perfectly OK to purchase any of their memory modules.

EDIT: and just for some aditional information, DDR is 2.5v and DDR3 is 1.5v

    Re: Lack of RAM voltages

A lot of overclocking RAM needs higher voltages to drive it. For instance - the following (stocked at Scan) has an operating voltage of 2.1v (sources Bjorn3d.com -Super Talent T800UX4GC5, Satisfying Your Daily Tech Cravings Since 1996 , page@scan). Chances are if your motherboard can't supply enough juice the RAM won't work reliably.

Most of the cheaper Corsair stuff runs at 1.8v.

    Re: Lack of RAM voltages

ok, my apologies, I don't have much of a clue about overclocking. I haven't done that since the celeron 300 (o/c to 450) days

At default 1.8v which would be normal or such setting on asrock..
prob 5-5-5-15 and maybe even 2T, but once u have it going u can tweak it down.

Always bugged me why they cant just state it rather than using loose terms, but u can get some good performance out of their boards for not much cash if u persevere.

The Corsair will work @ 1.8v, check their site with part numbers if u need to or mail them.
My Corsair xms2-667 2gb kit works fine at 1.8v up to about 690 4-4-4-12@1T
