    RMA Logitech G15 (V1)

I'm not a happy chappy my G15 (version 1) keyboard has decided to play up with several keys no longer working.

So as it is still under warranty I returned it to Scan yesterday and after some discussion and some false hope of the possibility of "one still being available in the back" I was then tried to be palmed off with the horrible orange version 2.

Anyhow I stuck to my guns and they have now kindly agreed to make some enquiries with Logitech themselves as too a replacement, but I'm not holding my breath.

For future reference - going back to Logitech is by far the best option.
Normally they don't require the item returning (experience with a wireless keyboard/mouse after 6 months) or at the worst cut off and return the USB connector from the mouse after receipt of the replacement (gaming mouse after over 2 years - replaced with better model as it was no longer made).

once a logitech product becomes end of life they no longer hold stocks for RMA, you get palmed off with the new version of the product or given the option to spend its value on any other logitech product that might take your fancy.

RIP my G7 mouse, its came back to life as a MX Revolution and now its a G9 as i hated it.

im so damn careful of my v1 G15 as i dont want it to come back with red backlight and 12 buttons missing either

From my experience they advise it is end of life and offer an alternative product. In my case this was a significantly more expensive and higher spec product as it was the nearest equivalent gaming mouse to the one which failed.

Damn. I've left the keyboard with Scan.

Heard nothing today from them today, as expected. Sounds like I could actually end up with the V2 as the option of "To spend its value on any other Logitech product that might take your fancy" was not available I was told. Which was a shame as I bought a set of speakers (5.1 Logitech G51) whilst I was there also.

they will need to offer you credit or if you accept then the v2, since it is a different version it is then a different product and in their terms it says credit or replacement.

    Re: RMA Logitech G15 (V1)

Well I've finally heard from Scan and it wasn't good news.

Apparently their suppliers can not obtain a V1 and so my only recourse now was to either accept the V2, receive a credit for the item, but at a reduced amount because I've had the keyboard nine months, OR for me too collect the old keyboard from them and then strike up negotiations with Logitech. Why should I need to? aren't they supposed to have already done this!

Meanwhile I have spoken to Logitech several times and quite honestly some of them are real Muppet's. For instance did you know that the V1 only ever came with orange back lit keys, that's what one of them told me. What a fool ! Obviously no product knowledge whatsoever.

Anyhow my Son who is a Senior Administrator for a major electrical chain also spoke to Logitech and managed to speak to someone not within the Muppet Dept.
He said, to quote, "That the G15 is now discontinued and unavailable, but a product of similar specification up to the same value should be offered, if the product is more expensive then the difference is paid, if it is less then the amount is returned to the customer. If the customer declines the replacement a full refund should still be carried according to Logitech who the warranty is held with. A credit note up to the value can also be offered if the customer chooses, but again this is optional and a full refund can be obtained if the V2 or store credit is unacceptable."

So in conclusion because I'm fed up with the whole situation and can't be bothered arguing with Scan and also due to the lack of V1 boards available and any other good alternatives I've settled for the V2.

So having now got it I can honestly say it really is PANTS.

    Here are the good points:
    1. Better size and styling than the V1.
    2. Better build quality, especially the palm rest.
    3. Still has G keys 6 x 3 = 18.
    4. Still has Windows key lock out.

    Here are the bad pints:
    1. Absolutely awful LCD display, very small (50mm X 170mm) and poorly illuminated i.e. orange characters on a dark orange background.
    2. LCD is in a fixed position.
    3. Keys illuminated look more salmon pink in colour than orange.
    4. No rotary volume control.
    5. Small media keys.
    6. G keys buttons are taller and too near to the QWERTY ones and so are easy pressed accidentally.
    7. Shame the colour scheme of the board doesn't match the rest of the G series products e.g. G51

    Re: RMA Logitech G15 (V1)

I have a version 2 of the G15 and think it's good though the G keys are too near to the shift button etc so I do tend to press them instead of the needed key. Apart from that I think the colour is fine and a change from blue that most makers use. I also think the LCD screen is clear and well placed.

I had the choice between the V1 and V2 and I think I made the right choice as it's also smaller.
