    Returning a mouse

I bought a wireless mouse a while ago (about 6 months) to use with a spare testing PC as I work in IT and needed it to install various OS's on. I've not used the mouse as it's only now that I'm thinking about doing my last exam. The mouse is useless as the pointer jerks all over the place, the button presses don't register half the time and I'm get cheesed off with it when trying to use it. I've tried it on different surfaces and bringing the receiver nearer and nothing improves it. I've looked for the invoice and am sure I've found it but it doesn't list the mouse by name and just says no serial number?

I know it was just under a tenner but I need a working mouse that doesn't make me want to stamp on it every 2 seconds. The mouse is a Nortek 2435 Are these mice all like this or do I have a faulty one. I don't mind a direct replacement or a credit to get a different one. What do I need to do to get it returned.

    Re: Returning a mouse

Try replacing the batteries/charging, my old wireless used to do that.

You wont get a credit/refund after 6 months.

    Re: Returning a mouse

Is that the one with a charger pod?
It sounds like its battery is not fully charged or cant retain charge, is it possible to replace them on this model for testing or is it built in pack?
Try some hi rate NiMh and charge them fully before use outside the mouse (assuming its AA/AAA)
If you cant change the batteries, I guess leave it plugged in with the PC giving it power for at least 24hrs to give it a boost and try again?

I'll give that a go. I think it uses a round battery similar to a bios battery. It could be that as it wasn't used for months.

how not? if the mouse doesn't work and it isn't the battery or what other's suggested then I'm entitled to a replacement/credit or refund if it's not upto the job it was intended for. I'm going to try a see if replacing the battery works and if not then I don't care if it just cost a tenner it will need to be sorted out under the warranty.

I didn't even think of the battery being at fault. I just assumed the mouse was rubbish

    Re: Returning a mouse

Any luck with trying batteries/charging or is it looking more like its faulty?

Its possible as it wasnt used / batteries left depleted for a long time that its affected the battery pack's ability to accept/retain charge.

I've got the batteries on charge at the mo. I opened up the mouse and they are just AAA batteries. I'll post to see if that was the problem as I like the mouse and the fact it has a docking station so fingers crossed.

    Re: Returning a mouse

right I charged the batteries up and it is still poor the buttons don't respond very well. For instance when left clicking on an icon it jerks around and drags the icon around like I'm dragging and dropping. Also mouse movement is jerky.

Can someone from Scan tell me if these mice are good or is it the quality of them as I've raised an RMA for it. I've never used a wiresless mouse and got one at work to install and that works flawlessly. This mouse is used on my study PC so I'm using it heavily to configure networks etc and am getting frustrated using it.

    Re: Returning a mouse

This is really annoying the hell out of me would someone from Scan please have the courtesy of reply to my post. I don't want to send this mouse back to find the mouse is just cheap and works badly and then get charged to test and send back. Whilst the mouse is only a £10 mouse I will still need to get a replacement of some sort so if I spend another £10 on a mouse then it's cost me £20 in total hence why I want to send it back. Other wireless mice I've tried at work work perfectly (just as good as wired mouse).

You got no chance, they wouldn't even give me a refund for a dodgy PSU after just under two months.

    Re: Returning a mouse

    slypie,

Returns rate on this mouse is well within industry tolerence, so there is no cause for concern.

I can only assume you have a faulty mouse, you mention you have the returns number so you can use that, however, as discussed, at this stage the return would be for replacement only.
