Clock for clock I think the difference is about 5-10%. The only major advantage of Q9450 over the Q6600 is lower power consumption that I can think of.
I play a lot of videos and my gf is always having to transcode a lot stuff for her different portable mp4 players - so SSE4.1 is a big selling point for me.

The extra cache will also help.

Also, I've not had a lot of success oc'ing in the past (at least nowhere near the advertised figures you see on the net) so anything I get I see as a bonus.

They can tell you if you ring up and ask. But I don't think they'll be too impressed if a ton of people suddenly ring up asking.

As a guide, I am 60th in the queue having ordered on the 20th March.

Under normal conditions 150 doesn't seem like such a big deal. It just depends how far Intel are from normal conditions.

    Re: Q9450 Availability

Scan are now also listing an OEM version of the Q9450, albeit with no stock and no ETA. But it's listed with a MORE expensive price than the retail version being. OEM is £229.11 inc VAT and retail is £218.56 inc VAT.

    Question Re: Q9450 Availability

    Pre-order discount?

The OEMs seem slightly easier (easier being a relative term) to get hold of so maybe they plan to sell some of those soon and factored in an availability premium.

Well, I am buying a Thermalright 120-Ultra Extreme heatsink. So, I'm not going to be using the stock HSF. Don't know how I'd go about getting the OEM instead short of ordering one and seeing which comes in first. Don't think it'd be fair on other people.

If the oem`s do show in stock whilst im waiting i`ll just call and order one and cancel my retail and pay the extra.

Thanks man. I really hope he is there when I get home!

Interesting to hear about the queue! Would be more interesting to hear something from ChrisP himself

The retail procs also have a 3 year warranty whilst with the OEM you only get 1.

Hmm, I ordered on the 17th March. Quite hard to gauge really but I imagine I'm between 50 and 60 in that case. Also there will be cancellations no doubt. I saw some retailers in the states had shipments of ~150 or so. So hopefully the first batch proper will clear out most of the backorders. It's frustrating because everywhere else seems to have gotten a proper batch apart from the UK. I know there was a load in Austria, Singapore, the US etc. I thought it was only Nintendo who treated the UK poorly (I still love them mind )

    Re: Q9450 Availability

Regarding the changing due dates on Scan (specifically the stock that was due today), does anyone know if this is due to shipping delays or if Scan have received stock that only covered pre-orders?

Any idea of how much stock is expected on 31/03/2008 and/or if the quantity of stock expected exceeds the number of pre-orders?

So what does that mean if you bought it at the lower retail price and you've already been charge?
