    Xigmatek HDT S983

Any news or info on when you will be getting these units in ?
    XIGMATEK

It is the replacement for the HDT S963 which you currently stock, only this new model has 8 heatpipes instead of 6, hence the name.

    Re: Xigmatek HDT S983

[edit] Just viewed that item again and noticed its 92mm fan fitted and size and the S1283 is 120mm size so discard the following

I am not certain but I would think its actaully an older version of the HDT-S1283 given that it was reviewed back in december 07 and the HDT-S1283 (whiuch is stocked by scan, as I bought two) was reviewed this January by frosty.

Briefly visually comparing them the S1283 has been narrowed a bit to allow more room for other components.

    Regards

Yeah, I'm concerned that if i get the s1283 it will not allow me to close my case properly as its abviously taller.

As the s983 is smaller but provides almost the smae cooling I want one !!!!! Now !!!!!!!

The freezer 7 pro is better cooling than the S983 and slightly worse than the S1283, but it will fit in your case.

To the guy who has 2 S1283s, this might sound like a strange request, but could you possible get a ruler and put it flat the motherboard (Not on any componants ect) and measure the very top of the S1283 when it's installed? Just I might be able to fit the S1283 but I'm not sure if I'm measuring to the right bit.

    .
I have a Freezer Pro 7, it is only marginally better than the stock cooler IMO. A much better cooler than Freezer Pro is the Akasa AK-965 (more than almost 5'c better cooling at load for me), which I currently use.

However I want something better and have to disagree with you strongly when you say the freezer pro is better than the S983.
In the reviews I've seen it wipes the floor with the Freezer Pro 7.

I don't think the S983 is on sale yet anywhere, but I have just purchased a new Lian Li case and Thermalright 120 Xtreme, so it dosn't matter anymore anyway.
I wouldn't have thought Scan will have the S983 anyway in the near future as they seem to take longer than other suppliers to get new products in.

I read somewhere today on another forum where someone posted exaclty the same Q, and apparently the height of the cooler is exactly 160mm from the top of the CPU housing to the tip of the heat pipes which protrude out of the heatsink, it would be useful to know however how high it is from the base of the motherboard exactly, because who can just plonk a ruler straight on top of there cpu easily ?
