Question Arctic Cooling Accelero AC-S1 stock

First of all, I want to thank you for the smooth process of swapping my faulty 8800GT yesterday for another one. I've returned stuff to you before and you've always been very good, but just wanted to say thanks this time.

Anyway, the new 8800GT you gave me has a 'cheaper' fan on it, which, rather irritatingly, makes even more noise than the last one. It's not something I can adjust, and I can't live with it. Instead of trying to get it replaced and moving onto my 4th card, I'm going to fit another cooler. I'm sick of returning these things.

I've read up and think the general feeling is the Accelero AC-S1 is the best option, but you are awaiting stock, so I was wondering if you had any news on it.

    Thanks very much.

Oh, and I won't be buying from XFX again!

Re: Arctic Cooling Accelero AC-S1 stock

How about looking into a dual slot cooler?

dont think passive is great for a high end card.

Re: Arctic Cooling Accelero AC-S1 stock

    I would look at getting:

    Zalman Z-Machine GV1000 or VF1000
    Thermaltake Duorb
    Thermalright H3-03GT

Re: Arctic Cooling Accelero AC-S1 stock

I'm going to stick the turbo kit on it so it's not going to be passive.

The VF1000 is noisy at full speed apparently, which is what I'm trying to avoid. Bit pricey too.
The Duorb was on my list of possibles, but Scan don't sell it.
The Thermalright is too big. I wouldn't be able to fit it in with a fan.

Thanks for the suggestions though. I could do with suggestions for the cleaning fluid to clean up the current thermal stuff...

Re: Arctic Cooling Accelero AC-S1 stock

The DuORB is louder than a VF1000 at full speed, but the VF1000 still retains good performance on 7V, the DuORB performance scaling is worse on lower noise/air flow

I have the S1+turbo module. Killer cooler. Blows the other coolers out of the water.

Whats the Fan assisted S1 like for noise? What controls fans? From the cards fan header or from another - fixed or variable.

I'm tempted to get the S1 and then see if I wanna add fan later but I'm still curious as to how well the fan works noise-wise. Plus I'm holding out for the new ATI cards (4650 should be faster than today's 3850 and also cheaper and lower power consumption - WIN WIN WIN)

My turbo module is plugged straight into a molex, you can plug it into your MB for PWM though so you can control the fan through speedfan or any other controller.

My molex ISN'T 7V modded, so it's running @ full and my CPU fan is louder. I seriously cannot hear it. It's definatly the quietest fan in my case. I'm running 2x80mm and a 120mm aswell.
