Case+PSU RMA question. I would realy like an answer on this :)

I am very curious of how you handle PSU+Case warranties. If i were to buy "this" combo and my PSU goes bust the day after I built the case, worked on cable managment and cleaned everything up . Would I have to return the PSU or the PSU and the Case because i bought them as a tied product. Another problem that can occur would be that if i decided to get out some tin snips and cut out the back and top grills would i lose the warrenty for both the case and psu. And my final problem, How would you about replacing the psu if you dont acauly sell one by itself?

These worries hold me back from buying tied products .

If the case was sold with a PSU pre-fitted by the manufacturer, both the case and the PSU would have to be returned for testing/replacement.

Any type of permanent modification to products purchased would result in the warranty being void.

Thank you so much for the reply! But it seems my worries are true. I Think i'll have to try another case and buy the psu seperatly

Usually this is the best way to build you then have seperate warranty on the products plus you can purchase a better quality PSU.

Oh yes I understand that completely, Its just the cm-590 does not have a standalone version . I guess i could just buy it and another psu and then have a backup coolermaster psu

Afaik Antec will allow you to return just the PSU (from a bundled PSU/Case set) directly to them for a replacement (and will be handled as if the PSU was a seperate item) but I couldn't say what CM does.

Re: Case+PSU RMA question. I would realy would like an answer on this :)

If the OP deals direct with CM its possibly an option, try to mail their CS with this question?
Also if CM will swap a psu seperately then modifying the case in the way you describe will of course invalidate returning the case but not the psu IMO, another thing worth checking direct with CM.

I don't fully understand the 'fear' though?
Its likely the PSU will be fine for all its warranty period, or do you have information to think that its a poor model PSU?

Worst case scenario (no pun!) if you bought this case set and the psu fails and you cant get warranty on it alone, then bought another psu at a higher rating with free carriage from Hexus/scan, would it be so bad? I mean if its this case that you wanted more than any other... I don't understand buying a second PSU at time of order unless you want much higher output?

Can you tell us what kindof setup are you intending to run in it?

My setup is already decided, I just wanted to buy a corsair HX520 modular psu, for better effeciancy and silence, But I may just buy this one anyway and then change the fan on the psu

I will also email coolermaster about this
