Best PSU for this system that scan sell?

    Hey

im looking for a new psu for my system, the one im using currently was a stop gap piece of gear until i could get a better one, so now im looking into it, i was just wondering about peoples thoughs on what i should get.

im looking for one with a little future proofing, sli at least, if possible modular also. Best quality possible as im sick of buying psu's that dont live up to expectations My Pc specs are as follows:

    Intel C2D e6850@3Ghz
    Asus striker extreme
    2x1Gb corsair dominator
    XFX Geforce 8800GT Alpha Dog
    2x250GB HD/raid 0
    X-Power 700W psu

    Any thoughts would be welcome

Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
There is also the 625 watt, more expensive of course.
Those are considered to be some of the best but if you want something cheaper but with fractionally less quality check out corsairs range.

They are certainly one of the very best at the moment. It's a lot of money but it's certainly going on a worthy product.

Others to look at would be the highly decorated corsair HX

500W is a good place to aim for at the moment since power requirements are really on the way down rather than up and that system will struggle to pull 300W from the wall.

I also hear good things about these but couldn't vouch for them having never used one.

    Tagan

it all depends on your budget

If you plan on SLI the 8800Gt the Corsair is an option too.

Hey guys, thanks for the prompt replys

budget isnt an issue, ill pay pretty much any price for the psu if its rated highly enough. The options put forward so far indeed look very nice, im kinda surprised 500w psus are capable of handling duel sli setups, considering the ampage single 8800gts and above require.
Im basically looking for a psu that has some future proofing, rock stable +12v rails on at least 2 different cables, and preferably modular, price is no issue.

Then get the Enermax 525W modular PSU as linked in the first post by Aez... they are definitely the best PSU's out at the moment and have close to 90% efficiency which is excellent.

Oh and BTW a PSU should be replaced every 2 years maximum because all PSU's including the very best degrade and eventually loose a big percentage of their rated power. The difference in quality basically is that it degrades slower and if it does exceed its output it won't break everything inside your PC which is the most important.
