    Coolermaster RC-1000 Cosmos New V2

    Hiya,
"Version 2" of the Coolermastes Cosmos you have on "today only" for £93.99 (nice price), can you tell me what improvements/differences this version has over the original Cosmos please as I was not aware that Coolermaster had brought out a new version.

    thanks
    dc.

Re: Coolermaster RC-1000 Cosmos New V2

Yeah.. i ordered one from scan the other day when i saw they had this new "v2" version, it came yesterday morning, and looks exactly like the pictures from the original version.. it doesnt look any different. SO maybe ive been sent the old "v1" .. but it did say new v2 in stock before i ordered.

edit: oh and some of the specs on the page are wrong, where it says: "Fans Included: 2 x 120mm " mine actually came with 4 120mm fans installed

If you have 4 x 120mm it is the version 2.

Re: Coolermaster RC-1000 Cosmos New V2

I've got a V1 & a V2 (ordered the V2 from scan) and there's 4 fans in both of mine. The only difference i could see is that scan had opened the box, and literally throwin the hard drive fan mount (so you can keep your drives cool), which would mean 5 fans. Mine had broke free from the tape (it wasn't taped down well). The fan mount for the HD was originally an optional extra but as these cases have heat issues then they sent them to all the supplier to throw in for free - as you actually need them if you fit >2 hard drives. Great alround case, but not good for heat and therefore overclocking. Thats why they brought out the "S" version with a windmill and hole in the side and less sound proofing, which makes it a bit too noisy for me!

Ok can somebody from Scan then please clarify why this is being called the Version 2 of this Cosmos Case (somebody must know as you guys are the ones calling it that!!), is it just the addition of the fan bracket??

do you get 2 of those fan brackets then as mine had it fitted in the bottom of the case so it is a standard part of the v1

That is not the hard drive fan.

I read a review yesterday of the case when it first came out after seeing them on SCAN today only. It specifically stated in the review there is no cooling for hard drives, the hard drive fan that occupies the bottom two 5 1/4" bays is optional. The case already came with the fan at the bottom of the case on the right hand side in front of the PSU. That fan had a directional vent and was meant to be aimed towards the graphics card.

So it seems the only difference with the V2 is the hard drive fan should be included.

Re: Coolermaster RC-1000 Cosmos New V2

    Hello all.

I'm on the verge of buying a Cosmos 1000 and wondered if they're was any clarification as to what the V2 differences are.

From the Scan product page is sounds like the main difference is alluminium side panels instead of steel. If that is the correct, does that affect the sound-proofing properties or is the same but just a little lighter now?

    Thanks,
    Stuart.

Its nothing to do with the side panels, I have the V1 and thats got alu sides

Its the extra fan bracket as pictured above that can be placed over the hard drives for extra cooling. I bought one direct from CM in Holland, so now its officially a V2

Thanks for that. I've now ordered a V1 for delivery tomorrow (I'm too impatient to wait for Tuesday delivery from Scan ) and if my HDs are getting too warm I can always order the bracket from CM later on for a couple of quid.

Does the HDD fan bracket fit above the 3.5 HDD drive cage, and you have to remove the 3.5 FDD bracket and lose the bottom two 5.25 bays?
