Memory faulty - RMA query
I bought 2x1Gb Corsair sticks in a pack as a pair about 2 months ago.
After the machine started crashing all over the place about 4-5 days ago I finally got around to running MemTest86+ on it and sure enough one stick is now faulty.
Question is - do i have to RMA the pair of sticks or should I just send the one back?
Ta!
Re: Memory faulty - RMA query
If the memory was supplied in a pair, then it would need to be returned back as a pair when sending them back.
Best Regards,
Re: Memory faulty - RMA query
Ok - thnx for the reply Lee. Sounds sensible.
I'll dig out the info and RMA tomorrow.
Re: Memory faulty - RMA query
could you define crashing??
about 3-4 days ago I find that each time I start up it takes me 3 attempts to get past the BOIS!
The first attempt stops after listing the CPUs (correctly as quad @ 3.10) - i have to manually switch off.
The second attempt lists the CPUs at normal FSB so 2.40 - but after about 10 seconds continues showing mem reading etc then says that there was a POST request or something and that I should load default settings and reboot.
Third attempt is shows CPUs at 3.10 and after ten seconds mem fine carries on to load windows vista 64 sp1 (as of about 3 days ago).
So Im a little lost as to whats going on!
Re: Memory faulty - RMA query
double check the timings/voltages are what you would normally use for that speed. also try downclocking a little to see if it is more stable.
for the OP try memtesting with everytihng at stock values as again some voltage or timing may change giving an error. If it works at stock investigate further else you will likely get a NFF and wasted postage charges.
