Heatsink and fan for AMD Athlon 4800+ 64x2 socket 939

Ok would like a bit of advice, I'm looking to replace my processor heatsink and fan from the original stock one.

I would like it to be ultra quite if possible above all efficient and long lasting. Maybe zalman or thermaltake or other?

I will be changing the pc case from an aspire xqpack to an antec sonata iii so there will be more room for it.

The motherboard is asus A8N-VM CSM, processor amd athlon 64x2 4800+ socket 939.

Hope I've given you as much information as you need.

what price range? are you overclocking?
I have an akasa 876 and a coolermaster tx2 on my 939 X2 4200s @2.6 cores, they arent silent but quiet enough for me with other regular case fans, dont cost a lot and run cool.. 32c idle and 48c loaded with orthos 100%x2 (CnQ diabled).
There are quieter ones about if thats the main goal but you will pay more.

I would absolutely positively recommend the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro, which is usually around £10 or so. It's easily the best one under £25, and i use it to keep my overclocked (2.5Ghz) X2 cool under very quiet conditions. Put it this way - the noise of the hard drives is easily louder than this HSF, so if you need quieter than the 64Pro, you'll also need solid state drives!

Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro sounds ideal, to be honest never heard of Arctic and I only thought coolermaster made case (I learn something everyday), was thinking of Thermaltake or Zalman because I was told they were reliable brands. But my trouble now will be sources cos alot of places have stopped selling anything to do with socket 939. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't really have a budget in mind although would prefer under £30 for top quality that will last years. I don't overclock (don't know how to) but I do leave my pc on 24/7 most of the time (I know bad for the planet and electricity bill).

Another vote for the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro - just fitted one to my HTPC with a X2 4200+ and it manages to keep it around 34C at idle with the fan off.

I use the Arctic Cooling freezer 64pro. Its an outstanding cooler for the price (Arctic cooling are one of the best after market companys for producing coolers: cpus and gpus)

Another option for around your budget might be the ZEROtherm Nirvana NV-120 (Quiet CPU Cooler with 120mm fan). I've read how amazing this cooler is, but sadly Scan doesn't seem to stock this item at present.

I just checked scan do have the ZEROtherm Nirvana NV-120 priced @ £30.54 other option was the Zalman AMD Aero Flower @ £28 but I think I will go with everyone's suggestion of Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro @ £11.48 since its half the price of the other options.

Re: Heatsink and fan for AMD Athlon 4800+ 64x2 socket 939

I have a few 939 based rigs at home and got a Arctic Freezer 7 Pro for the PC within my bedroom as it's on 24/7.

The cooler is immense at cooling and VERY VERY quiet. Infact, all the noise from my PC now comes from the case fans and graphics card cooler.
