    E0 versions of Intel E8400 / E8500?

Any information on when these are getting released?

I want an E0 to play with and E8600 is too expensive

    Looking at this page here:

    http://www.cluboverclocker.com/revie...0_e0/index.asp

    E0 CPU's have an S-spec with a 9 in it as follows:

    E8400 SLB9J
    E8500 SLB9K
    E8600 SLB9C

    Do scan have these yet?

Intel did this with the Q6600 G0 stepping but we do not have any indications to if this is going to be done for any of the other processor ranges.

    Mixed batches is FTL

There is no chance of looking for a SLB9J?

    Not really I'm afraid.

For example what happens if I check 1 CPU and it has the code XXYYZ and we inform you of this.

Then for example, the picking department just grab the nearest CPU from the shelf as they do and this has the code XYXYZ you would not be happy.

As such this is why we do not and cannot state week/steppings unless they are binned specially just like the Q6600 G0 stepping processor was.

Yea, mixed batches is the problem, I suppose I will have to try PC world and see if they price match with Scan lol.

Meh, PC world have nothing to their website, I'll just stick with what I have, no E0 for me

Or I can just wait untill C0 stock is cleared and etailers start listing the E0 E8400.

I don't see why the E0's couldn't be listed on your systems as different stock, surely they have different manufacturer codes/SKU id's?

I understand why you would want to get rid of older C0/C1 stock, but I don't see why you couldn't just list the E0's as a different item, with a price premium. I've no doubt Overclockers will be doing this, once they get E0s, but I'd rather not buy from them.

    Re: E0 versions of Intel E8400 / E8500?

They have different codes on the box as my first post shows.

Seeing that I already bought an E8400 from Scan right when they were released, I find it odd that they would be completely unwilling to help me buy a second with a newer revision.

I suppose you dont want my custom for my E0 E8400, never mind, i'll keep on looking elsewhere.

I just want an E0 E8400 a.s.a.p to perfect my system, and then I'm going to skip Nehalem and DDR3 untill Intel's 32 nm CPU's in a couple of years.

So why is the E8600 listed as an E0 stepping then? Is it an E0 stepping or not?

    Re: E0 versions of Intel E8400 / E8500?

All E8600's are E0 steppings. It was built on the E0 version only, whereas E8400's and E8500's started off with earlier steppings.

I think I will wait untill nehalem is released and the price on the E8600 plummets and grab one. Overclock it to 4.5 Ghz and then wait for 32 nm CPUs in the future before getting a new socket or a quad core.

    yep

All Q9650 are E0, Q9550 comes in the first rev C0, and also the newer rev E0

Again, I guess there is no way of telling an E0 Q9550 from a C0?

    (At eTailers I mean)

They won't tell you, neither will Overchargers UK or any other large CPU e-tailor.

If people really want E8400/E8500/E9550 E0 Revisions, I suggest ringing around the smaller companys, they will give you more time of day in terms of checking for you & will make sure the product sent is the right one as they did me..

Big companys really dont care about it, they sell enough CPU's to warrant not caring about the minority who want a specific revision - simple as.

If companys like Overchargers UK & Scan want to lose out on buisness they so be it, they have advertised specific revisions before i.e Q6600 G0 but not this time, they can't be bothered.

    Re: E0 versions of Intel E8400 / E8500?

    I don't think it's a case of 'can't be bothered'.
It's more likely that the G0s were sent out in a big box marked Q6600 G0, whereas the E8400 was sent in a mixed batch.
Given the amount of custom that Scan get, it's pretty inefficient to go through every CPU that is ordered to check.

Probally correct, but the fact remains they still lose out to smaller e-tailors who will check the revisions for you, I bet nearly everyone who wants E0 steppings is doing this now as word as spread around via e-mail etc which e-tailors are doing this.
