And MSI for the epic fail. A while back I had 6800 GT that did the same thing. It was RMA'd and the replacement, which was identical, actually caught fire in use.

These werent from Scan, it should be said but I still won't buy MSI

Re: Brand new GTX 280 appears rather unwell :(

My own experience of SCAN's RMA process is they are speedy and if it's a specific problem in terms of how it fails, a nice phone call will sort it out.

I've had stuff tested the very next day from when SCAN recieved the item through to being tested within 3 working days. Refunds tend to take time, replacements are quick.

Well i've raised a query with you Thing is, I used a brand new 800W PSU that's sli certified, with both 6 and 8 pin connectors (the psu has 2 x 6 pin and 2 x 8 pin rails).
Do I need a 2000W psu or something?!

I've got to go into a meeting for about an hour bbl.

Was your inital testing carried out with the original air cooler on or had you used a water block?

Having given this some thought - I think it's me (probable, I did this sober - never a good thing) or the water block. I'm going to (hopefully) get the card back and try a new block:

Shiney new hardware needs to be abused, but soemtimes it's best to put the card in and make sure it works before ripping it apart...

Hopefully it is just an issue with the water block being on, which water block were you using?

The EK one - personally i didn't like one end of the block versus the EK 8800GTX block i've got as it's not directly bolted down. The one pictured above has a much nicer fit from the looks of it and the benefit of moving water over pretty much the whole card rather than just the centre.
