    Powercolour 4870 1gb psu help

    Hi guys,

I`ve ordered one of the powercolor cards and was just wondering if my PSU is going to have enough juice.

My PSU is an ocz powerstream 520W. Is this gonna give enough juice?

    A quick google throws up...

"500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)"

Probably dependent on how much electricity all your other pc bits draw too.

Edit: Beaten because I was trying to be clever with my reply

    Sould be fine mate.

On my Quad @ 3ghz with a 4870 it was only drawing about 300 watts underload at the socket which includes PSU losses.

Re: Powercolour 4870 1gb psu help

Im using an x48 mobo and a q660 chip. have about 4 hard drives in there but will be taking some of them out.

My psu only has the one 6 pin adapter though. can I use one of wire adapters that turn a molex into the 6 pin?

Yes you can. Pick a lead with the least gear hanging off it.
