Hi guys
Just wondering if there has been any update on the 1 Gb Powercolor HD 4870 (LN23977). They were due in today, does it look like that will happen, or are you expecting them to be delayed?
Cheers :juggle:

And why are Powercolor cards so cheap compared to others...*looks suspicious*
Well the ETA on the site has changed to the 15/10 now :(
Wouldnt mind so much but The money has already been taken on my order
I thought money was never taken until the order was in stock?
Well the money has gone out of my account to scan so I dunno if its a one off in my case.
Ah well Means that I can get the conservatory built before getting distracted by the new card :D
Price has gone upto £198.56 Inc VAT now and no stock Ebuyer has it at £199.99 and in stock
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148105
Personally I had a very bad experience with Overclockers in the past and in my opinion its a company to stay well clear off.
The current Scan to Ebuyer difference in price is only £1.50 ish now that Scan's price has shot up. Sadly they also list the part as not being in either till the 15th as well :angst: .
People have bad experiences with Scan, Ebuyer, etc etc... it happens. With their free postage, OCUK are now generally best for RAM and GPU's.
And watercooling. Generally I find OCUK have a large selection of parts and you can get pretty much everything there. SCAN tend to get cheaper prices but have a smaller stock list. This is probably from doing deals with companies to only stock their goods and get lower prices.
I've heard some epic horror stories from OCUK, but I ordered my armour + recent watercooling setup from them and it arrived without a hitch. I've also had no problems with scan though, so tbh I don't really have a "loyalty" as such and will go with whatever gets me the best parts for the least amount of money.
How can I get free postage with OCUK? Through their forums?
Unreal! First the damn motherboard I was going to order has gone up £20 and is actually cheaper on Overclockers and now the GFX card goes up a tenner. Personally I think Scan are really shooting themselves in the foot by raising their prices in line with OCUK or other retailers.
The savings going to be made by shopping with Scan were what attracted me to the site in the first place, but now those are rapidly diminishing. I don't think any online computer retailer is going to compete with OCUK due to their formidable forum and loyal customer base, so competetive prices are going to be where they attract more business.
Couple this with the pre-orders being pushed back and back further on such items as the Powercolour 4870 1gb card.... I think my £1500 will be going elsewhere.
Just checked OCUK rules on free postage and they are insane.
250 posts and 90 days min membership. That's insane. I don't even think I have that here @ hexus yet.
Just got an email saying my order has progressed to stage 3 (awaiting dispatch) :)
I guess some more stock arrived? A nice surprise for today then, thanks Scan
I think it's to stop freeloaders flooding the forums with spam just to get the free postage. The forums are much bigger than HeXus so the requirements need to be stricter or people would be majorly taking the pee. Hence why they say it's only for "loyal forummembers" i guess. *shrugs*
