Will scan price match a product if i can show them one that is miles cheaper than any competitor?
nah they don't, just buy it from the cheaper shop... but post a link to the item so they can check if its a misprice
Scan dont sell the exact product, that being the pc2 6400 reaperX series 2x2GB ram by OCZ, which i can get for £35 but elsewhere is about £77 excluding vat.
At that price I'd get it elsewhwere, even including carriage that's :ocheap
I am trying to procure a stock, want some other company to offer that deal!
Scan don't pricematch.
Their prices are the cheapest alot of the time.
They will never sell that RAM :D even if it fell from the sky into their warehouse :P (You can read a thread about it)
They have a problem with ocz im assuming, care to link me?
No, they just have an affiliation or partnership with Corsair :)
I can't find the exact posts but search for stuff like geil ram or gskill ram or crucial ram in this subforum and you can find them. Or check the Recommend products at Scan thread but you'll have to sift through.
I think Scan should seriously think about introducing a PriceMatch scheme (for example like the one at JohnLewis). It would be great for business. I’d prefer to buy all my electronic stuff from Scan, but alas they don’t always have the cheapest (yes yes, I know price is updated accordingly when the purchase a new batch, be it more or less from the previous). It would be great if I could get a PrimeMatch say against eBuyer, but still buy it from Scan. They would get my money, and I would get the exceptional service (not saying eBuyer sucks) and my product.
@moogle: That signature must have taken you ages! LOL
If you want a specific offer - why not use the request link at the top of TodayOnly like so many Hexus users do :)
As for OCZ - we currently have no plans to stock this memory - but we do already stock several other brands :)
It is true generally we do not offer a price match scheme and have no inclination to implement such a scheme for various reasons.
However, we do check and compare our pricing with our closest competition who hold actual stock and rather than simply cutting our prices, ( which is a bad business practice) through a price match scheme, we work with the suppliers and wherever possible directly with the manufacturer to reduce our buy price and pass the saving onto the customer so we are offering lower prices but without reducing our already low margin.
Service is also now becoming more important to the Customer in the decision process of where to buy their kit, we are not and will never always be the cheapest but we are confident more often than not we offer the best Customer service.

Please PM me with the LN of the item in question so I can look into the pricing for you.

No company, even the ones that do advertise matching, will ever price match a special offer or clearance offer... Always excluded in the small prints.
WOW, where did that come from ?Quote:
When Corsair folds
Well from the countless times we've kindly asked for a better choice of ram from you guys. No that other ram (Talent something) doesn't count. We've only been given reasons like "I'd choose Corsair over other rams anyday","We have no plans at the current time to stock X brand of ram" and other similiar phrases. The earliest request I've seen is 2005. Those plans must take long to make eh :D
I'm not angry or nothing it's just what it seems to be. It'd be nice to know the truth like if you only have 1 supplier and they don't sell anything else but Corsair, or if all the ram manufacturers are against you and don't want to sell you their ram (bar Corsair) or you don't feel that the other brands of ram appeal to your userbase (even though a majority of us request it). I've always just given in when we were fobbed off about the reason but I'd really like to know as to why you don't/can't stock other brands of it.
As for Corsair folding I don't actually mean/wish it to happen but I'd like to see you prove me wrong about that ;) (ie get some different branded ram in before they do fold or stop making their ram)
Although if you've got a contract to sell only their ram do let us know when it ends :P
I don't mind being proved wrong if your customers (and myself) get a better selection of ram when we buy at Scan. Most people will stop buying ram from OcUK and come here to get it because Scan CS + great service is worth a few pounds extra (or less which will be most of time seeing as their prices are always higher) as your MD said.
Well of course if Corsair go bust along with pigs growing wings :) then we would have to change to an alternative memory manufacturer.....
There are a lot of new innovative features coming from Corsair aimed specifically at our enthusiast market... So watch out for these :)
Reasons why we only stock corsair has been discussed so many times before ...
