Re: He aint heavy.... he's my cooler!

Alright guys, so I'm about to preorder one of these, and I need you guys to recommend me a quality fan that's preferably in the silent range of < 35dBA - I'm not up to date on fan performance at the moment. Thanks in advance.

10 degrees off what the 120 standard was getting under load (48hr prime 95 stress test). I do currently have a 120mm fan running at about 800rpm strapped to it. The case itself doesn't have any other fan's through that i'm testing it with so it's required to clear the heat from the fin's. Works very well through.

It's a high quality cooler, blowing most of the my recently benched coolers out of the water (and i've done most our stock!!!) the only one's that come close are the Coolermaster z600 and the Thermalright IFX-14.

I use Sharkoon Golfballs for the audio specs althrough the Noctura's perform slightly better, they are are not the best looking fans we do!

Both fans are pretty much silent as long as you set up your bios fan controllers properly and think about airflow.

Sorry. I was refering to the True 120 vs the Standard 120. The True 120 outperforms the's the standard 120 by about 10 degrees on the rig I was testing on.

Re: He aint heavy.... he's my cooler!

There are 3:
'Standard' TRU 120
TRUE 120/TRUE Black 120 (both have same performance afaik)
TRUE copper 120

The comparison that we want to see is the TRUE 120 vs TRUE copper 120

Re: He aint heavy.... he's my cooler!

And again i'll currect myself.

I tested all 3 of those.

The standard Tru 120 was more or less on level with the True Black as you noted. The TRUE copper 120 outperformed them both by about 10 degrees.

I realise now I should have been clearer, but to be honest I didn't realise the standard 120 model had the word "True" anwhere in the title or i'd have made the distiction in the original post.

True = Extreme version
Tru = Normal version

to elaborate more,

ThermalRight Ultra(120) = TRU, the E is Extreme, hence TRUE

Any hard ETA?

Even though its heavy as sin, and low bang for buck... apparently only 1000 units are being produced, the limited edition feeling is eating into me xD
Most places that are listing in USA seem to only be receiving upto 20 units at a time

So does the black edition perform the same as a normal Tru (Thermalright Ultra 120A)?

Yeah, noted now. I don't tend to pay attention to branding so much. I just find things on my desk and test them! It makes sense laid out like that through.

The True copper should be in the next couple of weeks. That's the best I can say right now, but I am chaseing a shelf date. The black came off maybe a degree or two better than the tru 120. Not much difference through. The IFX-14 came off better than both of them mind.

Re: He aint heavy.... he's my cooler!

What I couldn't post before (still under NDA at time of posting) was that I was testing on a Intel reference x58 board with a 920 i7 chip at stock voltages with a 1 x single fan attached which was a sharkoon golf ball 1000rpm attached.

Under prime 95 after an hour on test the Copper settled at about 68/70 where the black bounced around at about 75 or so.

I'm not disputing those test results, and i'm not saying mine are 100% spot on, but i'm not sure that the black scales as well as the copper on the new hotter processors.
