Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Hey
This kinda p*d me off, but yesterday this item :
http://scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebPr...215+Headphones
was £33, today its £45, come on wtf, i wanted to buy it yesterday but had to veryify when i would be avaiable for delivery to order :O!
Is this an error, coz it kinda p*d me off, £12 in a day, it was instock both days, it wasnt a today only offer or anything.
Can someone get in touch with me please regarding this?

Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
This is something that has been covered many times before. Suppliers are allowed access to edit their prices I believe, so it's not SCAN, its the supplier and to be honest, I don't think there is a need for the swearing.
Or the headphones may have been on today only
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Not swearing, just very annoyed, been needing headphones for time, and was mainly waiting for time when im free.
They werent on today only - i checked. but, imstill very annoyed at this, £12 over night on nothing .
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Dont get how a supplier can change their prices, if they buy their products ftrom the supplier, they have already payed them, so why can they go and change the price scan sells them at when it doesnt affect them? - or am i mistaken.
Still dam frustrated.
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
pop in dixons tomorrow, there under £30 :)
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
'Currys Price
£49.99'
So, thats even worse :/
Amazon have them for £40, but still, whats the point, i also have other things i need to get at scan, so, need to push up the price for free del :D (and even if i didnt have it its still over priced imo)
EDIT
Thats dixons online, and its sold out :/
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
no stores near you to try ?
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Amazon have free delivery don't they? Can't be pissed off at Scan though it's out of their control.
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
They must be able to do something about it, without a reason £15 :/
-

Guess you could always ask for it to be on Today only. Or wait for the headphones to drop. Alot of their prices have increased recently, the Q6600 has gone up to £150+, but others have the same prices so it's weird that elsewhere the headphones aren't cheaper.
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
I need them now, both my headphones are broken.
They caught my eyes, and have been for about a week, but only found out scan stocked them the other day, and at that price i knew i was gonna buy them, didnt know when i was able to be at home for del, so, waited for today, and, now its too late :/
Even worse thing, i have a few other things, they dont total to £30, and i dont want to pay for delivery, or buy things i dont need just toget it,.

Perhaps the reason is that the price increased to Scan? It's been covered many times - the prices from Scan are in realtime. This has the disadvantage of when products go up, so do Scans immediately, but the advantage of almost instant price drops too.
It's fairly common in the computer industry.

You only need £20 ex vat for a free delivery, unless that was a typo. We'll just have to wait to see the prices drop again I suppose.
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Hmm, think i may be able to get free del, but still annoyed. Dont have another options, these headphones i love. dont want to spend too much on them.
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Still hope someone from scan can reply to this

Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Guys,
I shall try and explain the increase for you :)
Basically last time we ordered these headsets from suppliers the £ was doing well against the dollar - it was roughly iirc $1.92 to the £, since then we have had to adjust pricing as the current conversion (today's rate) is only $1.61
If you look at the stock we sell anything that is bought from suppliers in $ we have had to adjust our pricing to reflect our current buy price as others as said our pricing is real time pricing, we dont like increasing prices however this is just another knock on effect with the current economic climate.
As previously stated if our buy price increases which on this occasion it has - not only because of the increased dollar rate - we have to pass on the costs to the customer.
As this is quite a large price crease there must be other factors behind it which I shall look into tomorrow
Regards

does this apply to items they say are in stock ? , does this mean they can charge the new price for stock they all ready have ?

Usually no, however we do have a policy with some suppliers to have holding stock within our warehouse.
These items are the property of the suppliers until we purchase them - any purchases for any holding stock are done at that current days pricing, so for example if the price increases from suppliers and we only have holding stock available then the price will of course increase immediately.
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Why? its already been answered?
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Ok, thanks for the reply :)
I may just purchase the next model up (£58), as i think this one is overpriced, then maybe overtime get a decent soundcard.
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
retail realtime...
a client gagging to buy something...the price goes up... retail client wont buy anything else..... gagging for them...
maybe , just maybe, Senn realigned them BECAUSE demand is out stripping supply? Lets face it... if you realy realy want them.....
if I made headphones that lots of people wanted..and I'd priced them too low just to get them rolling... I'd do summit similar tbh.
As would every house seller in England right now if they could.

Don't get pi**ed off just read the news dude and understand the problems of the £ becoming even weaker against the $. This has a real time effect on our Buy prices for ALL products we import and yes pricing can change in 1 day or even in 1 hour. Also the Consignment stock we hold would also be instantly affecting by the £ becoming even weaker against the $.
This is good news for exporters who are paid in $'s but NOT good for us...
To make this very clear we have not hiked up our Retail prices to increase our margin for demand. The increase's in the Retail price reflects the increase to our buy price, especially for CPU's.
Expect other Retailers to follow suit

Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
I noticed this too,
yesterday on lunch I was spec'ing my new system on scan.co.uk, I could have swore the q6600 was around £130 Inc VAT. Then when I came back from lunch to pay it had gone up to £155.
So I ordered from ebuyer with next day del for £131. I wanted to build the pc today. Then this morning I read an email from scan stating “delayed order!" with no details on what which was causing the delay.
I made sure all the items were in stock when ordering? Don't understand that. Surely we all have real-time stock information nowadays? So that's a tenner wasted for the CPU which will arrive today, when I could/should have selected free delivery.
If they don't get back to me by the end of today with a good explanation I’ll be cancelling and taking my business elsewhere. Very frustrating and I did all I could to do make sure I got the parts today. Less annoyed about having to wait, Just means I’ve got something to look forward to. More annoying that I only get an automated email with no details as to why.

joeh
To confirm it was E-buyer were advertising a lower price for the CPU, which you ordered and then you received a delayed e-mail from them?
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Hi
Sorry I wasn't clear then, have corrected.
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
joeh
Thanks...
The delayed order's definitely DO state the reason for the delay..
1) Order delay due to a volumes of order's - This is due to a higher than expected volume of order's in our warehouse causing a delay to an order, this is NOT a stock delay e-mail and ALL products should have already been allocated and reserved.
2) Stock Delay E-mail : This confirms a delay due to a stock issue, the item which is out of stock is listed and a replacement suggested.
If you can PM me your invoice number I will confirm the status of your order.
Best Regards
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
joeh
I have confirmed all parts are in stock and the order was unfortunately delayed due to a volume of order's and confirmed by e-mail. Your order will ship tonight for delivery on Monday.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Best Regards

Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
I cant see the issue here.
Scan = Shop (effectively)
With this in mind, and with the cost of everything increasing, they can charge whatever they think is reasonable (on most products).
When the price of chicken drastically increased, did you go into your supermarket and ask them to justify it? I seriously doubt it!
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Fair enough, thanks for the reply.
Makes sense, will probably either get it from elsewhere or get the next one up from scan :)
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Oops, already replied to :(

Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Edited : Didn't read whole post
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
My order never arrived today, Doesn't detail any references to delivery in the order history on my scan.co.uk account section.
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Woooh so off topic! :O
Dont know what to do, im now the proud owner of these :
http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=358846
So, i come wanting £33 headphones, complain when they go up in price and end up paying almost £60, lol, tanks scan for 'giving' me decent headphones, but damn you for making me spend alot :D
So, ill be thanking you when they come :)

Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Well, if these werent sen's i would have never bought them, but sen i know is an awesome company, which makes it worth it :)
Ive gone through 10 different pairs of headsets/headphones (well 2 different headphones, 1 almost unused headphones, and 7 creative headsets - GOD BLESS ARGOS!!! - they replaced them for free :D)
So, meh, im happy i got a nice pair of headphones in the end, but had to spend alot - especially with the fact im on onboard sound with no intent of paying £60 for some decent soundcard :D
-
Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Good to see it then, next time you see a bargain price like that get it before it dissappears ;)

Can you please confirm the status of my order, as it still hasn't arrived yet with no new information via email, or in my account area?
Thanks.

Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day

Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Price matching has been explained before and the reasons why we cannot also explained - In short we can't price match but please post the LN of the product so we can work with the suppliers to try and lower our buy price thus reducing the Retail price
Best Regards

I received a "temporary shortage in stock" email, but it didn't seem to offer the option of a replacement, and certainly didn't suggest one -- is that a third kind? It just say it's estimated as being back in on 17th, which is quite a long time!
Two things I am wondering though -- one is related to prices, so I may as well ask it in here. If the price changes before the item comes back in stock, what price do I pay? Do I pay the price I agreed to pay, or do I pay whatever price it comes back in stock at, which I potentially cannot afford? Or do scan do an Amazon-style "you pay the lowest price"?
The other thing I want to know is...I've ordered 10 items or so and only one claims to be delaying it. Will the other items be held for me so that when the last item comes back in stock I'll get them all sent immediately, or might the other items go out of stock while I wait as well, delaying the order still further?
Your prompt confirmation on these matters would be appreciated -- I had been very much enjoying my experience of using scan.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
My current TFT was bought from Ebuyer for £139. The very next day it shot up to £169!! I was lucky when i bought it.
This happens all the time and as explained before, it can't be helped.

Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
Koolpc,
I'm not sure if your remark was aimed at me specifically, so just wanted to confirm I'm not trying to "fan the flames" so to speak, I'm just interested in what happens next! :)
Cheers,
Jonathan

Re: Sudden Price change in ONE Day
jonathan1986
If an product is ordered as whilst on pre-order IE we have no stock when the product is ordered, if our BUY price increases DRAMATICALLY after the order has been placed then we reserve the right to cancel the order and process a full refund back to the customer. - But it is extremely rare that this happens.
When placing an order with items, which are in stock & on pre-order you have the 2 following choices.....
1) Ship everything together in 1 delivery when stock comes in. We’ll process all items into 1 order for you and ship everything together in 1 delivery once everything has come into stock. In stock items will be reserved for you while we wait for our suppliers to deliver the rest. Once everything is ready to ship we will email you to confirm despatch.
2) Part ship all stock items. (followed by second order). We’ll put all in stock items into 1 order for you, take payment and despatch asap. We’ll then reserve your place in a queue for the Pre-Order items and you’ll see them appear in My Account page under “Outstanding Products”.
We'll notify you by email as stock arrives and only take payment upon your confirmation. You then have the choice of adding any or all of these items into your basket to raise a new order.
Best Regards
