    One Thing After Another

    I have a major problem.

My computer keeps shutting down, except all the fans go on overdrive and it's just there doing nothing else but whirring.

I thought it might have been a Windows problem so I formatted the drive and tried to reinstall but it shut down in the middle of the install.

I have three 9800gtx cards and a quad core all overclocked (done by SCAN, not me). Could it be a stability problem or do you think it could be something more serious?

    Thank you for the responses.

Since my initial post I have managed to reinstall Windows.

The problem happened several times afterwards.

It is the harddrive that causes the noise that I thought were the fans, and the monitor loses its pick-up (which is why I originally thought the computer had shut down or gone into stand-by).

Any task that is happening when it occurs continues and when I tap the power button the computer shuts itself down in the normal way.

I recently had to replace the DVD drive. The new one uses an IDE connection.

I hope you will be able to help.
